The Spy Next Door

I watched The Spy Next Door. I had taped it when it was on HBO. It has Jackie Chan, Billy Ray Cyrus, Amber Valletta, Madeline Carroll, Will Shadley, Alina Foley,
George Lopez, and Magnús Scheving in it.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this movie, a man named Bob has been dating his next door neighbor who is a mother of three kids. She thinks he is a salesman of pens, but actually, he is spy. He wants to retire early so he can really be with Gillian. So he does one last job, but the guy he arrests escapes. There is a case of a mole that helped him escape. Gillian’s dad is in the hospital so Bob volunteers to take care of the kids while she is away. One kid accidentally downloads top-secret info that causes the escaped criminal to them. Bob’s secret of being a spy comes to light, but in the end, Gillian and the kids accept him.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching The Commuter.

Finding God in the land of Narnia

I finished listening to Finding God in the land of Narnia by Kurt Bruner and Jim Wise. Yes, I have read the Narnia book series.

In this book, Kurt Bruner and Jim Wise go through the Narnia book series and talk about Christian applications that can be applied to the Narnia book series. In one part they gave a different way of seeing the chapter about Eustace turning into a dragon. I saw the chapter in a different way though.

I loved this book and the Narnia book series. Now I’m reading Shedding Light on His Dark Materials: Exploring Hidden Spiritual Themes in Philip Pullman’s Popular Series by Kurt Bruner and Jim Wise. Yes, I have read Philip Pullman’s book series. I am really interested in what they say since most Christians don’t like the book series because it has the word daemon in it.

Spiderman: No Way Home

Like I said earlier, while Chris was here, we went to see Spiderman: No Way Home. Chris thought since he got a spiderman game for Christmas, we should see the movie. It has Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon,
Jamie Foxx, Jon Favreau, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Andrew Garfield, and
Tobey Maguire in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence and two sad parts.

In this movie, Spiderman’s identity is revealed which is bad for Peter because a reporter is set up to take him down and the media is following him everywhere. He gets a “bright” idea to ask for Dr. Strange’s help. Dr. Strange doesn’t want to help at first but decides to anyway. His help was to do a spell so everyone will forget who he is, but Peter interrupts the spell making and the spell goes sideways. The spell ends up a portal where metaverses of villains come through to our world. Peter helps capture the villains, but he wants to help the villains and turn them into good people before sending them back into their own world. But that does no good because one refuses to convert to a good person. And Peter’s mother gets killed. Two Spidermans from metaverses come to help and they also help Peter discover what Spiderman really means. Peter ends up using the spell correctly and everyone forgets who he is. Even his best friend and MJ.

Chris and I liked this movie.

White Snake II: The Tribulation of the Green Snake

I watched White Snake II: The Tribulation of the Green Snake. It is an animated movie and you may have to put on translation to know what they are saying. It has Xiaoxi Tang, Zhang Fuzheng, Feodor Chin, and Stephanie Wong in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence and it is very sad. Have tissues ready.

In this movie, Blanca and her sister fight a monk who was killing demons. Blanca gets killed and gives her baby to Verta to take of. Verta tries to take on the monk herself, but she is sorta killed. She wakes up in a modern type of China. She is saved by a masked man and a girl named Sister Sun. She tells Verta that this place was limbo (neither heaven or hell). In this limbo, there is some human, monsters, and demons. There is a monster gang that wants to take over everything. There is another gang that just wants peace. Sister Sun gets killed so the other gang takes her in. She meets the leader of the group Simon. She wants to know how to escape the limbo because not only the monster gang is “killing,” but there are soul eaters too. The soul eaters want to consume the beings that don’t want to leave. They make them into one of them so they have to stay. Simon, the masked man, and Verta go see the fox boss (she was in the first movie). She tells them that one way to escape from this limbo is to use a pool and throw the object of your obsession in the pool and you will forget everything. Verta doesn’t want to do that. Simon does do it and Verta says she doesn’t like him anymore because he is weak. She wanted to fall in love with someone strong. The fox boss tells her and the masked man later on that there is a wish bridge that will let her keep her memories and help her escape. There is a trick though she has to fight the monk over and over to finally kill him. To make the bridge appear. Verta also thinks the masked man is her sister Blanca. But the masked man is also a spy for the monster gang. The fox boss causes a flood, but the monster leader doesn’t die. Verta learns that the monk and the monster have an agreement where he would use the dark magic and then he would be able to go home. Verta kills the monk and the monster loses his dark magic. He gets bit by a soul eater and he bites the masked man/Blanca. The masked man makes sure Verta escapes. So she loses Blanca again. She is thrown back to China forward in time. She links the flute that the masked man had with the broken hairpin and she is releases Blanca again.

I sorta liked this movie. There is probably be a third movie that will be out this year is what I read. Of course, I want to see that one. Next week I’m watching The Spy Next Door.

The Last Battle

I finished reading The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. It is the last book of the Narnia books series. There are seven books of the Narnia book series. I have seen the movies that were based on some of the books.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, a monkey tricks a donkey to wear a dead lion’s skin. He wanted to trick the other animals so he can get some more food and other things. He also can make them do some very bad things. The animals would think the donkey was Aslan, the Lion King of Narnia. All the animals believed. Then some of the humans that followed the Tash religion started believing that Aslan and Tash were one being (this is not true). The last king of Narnia didn’t believe it so he yelled for the children and Aslan to save him from getting killed by the ape. Jill and Eustace came to rescue him. They also rescued the king’s unicorn (yay unicorn!) and the donkey. The king didn’t want the children to be involved in the battle against all the animals, but Jill and Eustace wanted to be in the fight. Tash was a real thing and it did take away the leader of the Tash believers. Then the king went into the stable where he found all the children together and changed. They thought Narnia was all lost, but Aslan had built a new Narnia that was better. The children got to see their old friends that died before them and got to be with their parents again.

At first, I didn’t like the book, I love the end of it. Now I’m listening to Finding God in the Land of Narnia by Kurt Bruner and Jim Wise.

White Snake

Note: I had planned on watching another movie, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. So I decided to watch this movie instead. This week’s movie is White Snake. It is an animated movie. It has Vincent Rodriguez III, Matthew Moy, Stephanie Sheh, Lydia Look, James Sie, Faye Mata, Vivian Lu, and Karen Huie in it.

Big Warning: there is a very sad part. Have tissues ready. There is also some violence.

This movie is based on a fable of a human man who falls in love with a white snake demon. She is an assassin who is hired to kill the general because he is eating snakes to feed his evil power. She gets caught and she runs for her life. Then she wakes up in a patch of grass. She doesn’t remember who she is, or what she has done. A man had rescued her. He is a snake catcher, but he is actually afraid of snakes. lol. He wants to be a doctor instead. They eventually fall in love. Then she remembers who she is and what she has done. In the end, the general and the snake queen are killed at a very huge stake.

Even though I hated the very sad part, I loved the movie. I didn’t know there is a sequel so I watching it next week. It is called White Snake II: The Tribulation of the Green Snake.

Master of the Shadowless Kick

Last week I watched Master of The Shadowless Kick. I had taped it when it was on Cinemax. It is based on the real-life story of Wong Kei-Ying. It has Sun Haoran, Zhou Xiaofei, Chen Zhihui, Jiang Mingyang, Yang Liao, Hou Xu, and Xie Ning in it.

Warning: there is some violence, three sad parts, and some drug use.

In this movie, Wong Kei-Ying is a martial artist and a physician. His wife dies while running away from some masked men who were targeting a martial artist. The governor makes a statement about getting rid of opium houses and cleaning up the neighborhoods. Wong Kei-Ying notices the governor hurt his leg and decides to treat him. But it is later revealed that the governor and his men were the masked men. The martial artist that was targeted was Wong Kei-Ying’s master who has the knowledge of the shadowless kick. The governor had the master in a dungeon. Wong Kei-Ying was called to look after the prisoner. Instead, he rescues his master, but he fails to heal him. Wong Kei-Ying had a project on trying to make a drug to help people that have opium addiction. Then the governor takes over the opium trade and calls on Wong Kei-Ying to get him to make a strong high for the opium. He refuses and the governor kidnaps his kid. Wong Kei-Ying kills the governor.

I sorta liked this movie.

I am Mother

I watched I Am Mother before Christmas. It is on Netflix. It has Luke Hawker, Rose Byrne, Tahlia Sturzaker, Clara Rugaard, and Hilary Swank in it.

Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, a robot takes an embryo and makes a little girl. She is the only little girl (supposedly) and the only human (supposedly). The robot becomes a mother to the girl. She is told that the outside is too toxic for her (which is not true). She later finds a mouse that has come in from one of the hatches. She brings the mouse to the robot that kills it. Then a woman comes to the research building. She says the robots tried to kill her and she was with a group near some mines. The girl believes her and the woman tries to convince her to leave the building. The girl finds out there were other girls before her who were killed. She does run away with the woman but comes back for her brother (a male embryo was chosen and made). The robot tells her that the other girls were killed because they didn’t meet the robot’s standards and this girl has.

Here’s a website that explains the movie better than me: https://www.distractify.com/p/i-am-mother-ending-explained

I liked this movie. Next week I will post about Master of the Shadowless Kick.

Ready Player Two

I finished listening to Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. It is the sequel to Ready Player One. I had read that they are making a second movie. I also read that Ernest Cline is writing a third book which is supposed to be a prequel of the life of the founders of Oasis.

Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, Wade and the others do take over the Oasis business. While being CEO he discover new writing on the Easter egg that he won. The new writing leads him to a secret room with another Easter egg which has a secret headset which Holliday made and says his heir has the choice to reveal to the world or not. The new headset connects to your brain and makes you have new experiences within the Oasis program. The problem is that if you go beyond 12 hours you will have severe brain damage and die. Wade tells the others about it. Samantha is not thrilled with the new headset. (I agreed with her, but when I got to the end of the book I did change my mind like she does. ) But she is outnumbered and the new headsets go on the market. Also with the new headset is another contest for Halliday’s heir. It is the find seven shards to make the siren whole. The siren is Mr. Morrow’s wife. Wade gets stuck on the first clue. Then a girl helps with the clue. Then suddenly someone appears. It’s Halliday’s avatar which is an AI. He is crazy and threatens Wade to complete the contest because he has everyone hostage.  Wade does find all seven shards, but he has a plan to kill Halliday’s AI. But Mr. Morrow dies in the process. Wade decides to make the siren whole and brings back Mr. Morrow’s wife and Mr. Morrow. He also makes copies of people too. He sends the copies into space to find a new planet.

I liked this book. Now back to Narnia with The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis.

The month of January

Happy New Year!!

Chris did come down for Christmas (his birthday). He is now 46 years old. He gave me a travel telescope which is really cool. I gave him his diamond painting and he liked it. He went back up to New Jersey on Dec. 29th. We saw the new Superman movie. I will post about it later. We also visited a museum near her that I had never been to. They had a vintage toy exhibit.

I also got two pairs of shorts from my great-aunt and cousin. I also got some socks and a new computer desk from my mother. Another cousin gave me some socks and gloves. My best friend gave me a journal and some earrings.

There really isn’t much happening this month. Chris had said about coming down this month, but when he went back home he found out his cat died so he might come down next month. This is US is coming back on tonight!! and The Blacklist is coming back on Thursday!!
