Old (movie)

Since it is my birthday month, I decided to watch the movie Old. I had been wanting to see the movie for a long time. I like M. Night Shyamalan’s movies. It has M. Night Shyamalan, Rufus Sewell, Abbey Lee, Nolan River, Kailen Jude, Aaron Pierre, Vicky Krieps, Gael García Bernal, Gustaf Hammarsten, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Ken Leung.

Big Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, a couple with two kids go to a resort. The resort was supposed to be fun and relaxing, but it turns out the resort has a terrible secret. The kids meet another kids who is the nephew of the resort manager. The couple
s boy is named Trent and he comes friends with other boy. The next morning after they arrive the manager tells them they are invited to a secret beach. But they discover that two other families are invited too. After being on that beach, they discover they are changing for the worst. They also discover they can’t leave, but Trent does discover a way out. Trent and his sister exposes the resort to the police and everyone there.

I loved the movie, but I didn’t really like the end. Next week I’m watching The Student Nurses.

The Invitation

I watched The Invitation last weekend. My mother wanted me to watch it with her. It is on Netflix. It has Nathalie Emmanuel, Thomas Doherty, Hugh Skinner, Alana Boden, and Stephanie Corneliussen in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, a woman named Evie wants to find some of her family using a DNA database. A man who claims he is her cousin comes to meet her. (There is a million red flags in this movie that she doesn’t get.) This so called cousin invites her to wedding that why she can meet some more of the family. Stupidly she says yes. The wedding is going take place at a mansion. She does meet some of the family and the owner of the estate. (The man who owns the estate is very cute.) Evie and the man who owns the estate fall in love. But the red flags become red hot and she becomes a hunter in the end.

I loved this movie. My mother didn’t like the end of it. She thought the ending was stupid.

The Student Body

I watched The Student Body. I watched it on Tubi. It has Bailey Webber, and Maddy Karimi in it.

This is a documentary of a high school student named Bailey Webber. She lives in Ohio and a few years ago her state passed a bill about using BMI tests in schools. One student got a “fat” letter in with her report card. Bailey wanted to know who sent the letters and if it’s appropriate to have BMI tests in schools. Everyone she interviewed she asked them to get her scale. She even had fat letters to give the senators in her state, but she and her friend didn’t give out the letters. A few months later her state decided to stop doing the BMI tests in schools. (I think this is great because BMI is supposed to be tool not to be taken as literal thing.)

I liked this documentary. Next week I’m watching Old.

The Student (2017)

I watched The Student. (No, this is not the same movie from last week. Last week’s movie was made in 2016 and it was a Russian movie. This one is an American movie.) I watched it on Tubi. It has Alicia Leigh Willis, Trevor St. John, Blake Michael, Lindsay Hartley, Eric Nelsen, Kassi Crews, and Michelle DeFraites in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, Vance Van Sickle is a law student. He is on a scholarship. He has been getting As and Bs. He begins to take Ethics class. The teacher is Abigail Grandacre. She is a teacher who goes by the rules because she believes in Ethics. She notices that Vance is a smart student, but she is wary of him. She has some issues that does affect her sleep and work life. She had sent an innocent man to jail and killed himself. Vance’s father was also an innocent man who was sent to jail and killed himself. This also affects Vance’s life which he fails to present his case on a mock trial. Abigail gives him a F. But the dean wants her to give Vance a makeup test. She wants to refuse, but she wants her grant badly. But during the meeting about the makeup test, Vance lies about his mother being sick. Abigail calls his house and finds out that was a lie. (This is where I think it is stupid. Vance shouldn’t have lied about his mother. Why tell a lie? Plus she shouldn’t have called his house. And the makeup test could have taken place.) The makeup test never takes place. Vance gets the idea to change the grade. He breaks into her home and instead of changing the grade, he hacks into her bank account and gives some of her money away to a justice charity. Then he does make her change the grade. Then after a long chase, Abigail kills Vance.

I sorta liked this movie. Next week I’m watching The Student Body.

Gone for Good

I finished read Gone for Good by Harlan Coben. There is a tv show on Netflix that is loosely based on the book. Harlan Coben has written many books.

Big Warning: there is some violence and a twist at the end.

In this book, a guy named Will is in love with a woman named Shelia Rogers. She ends up becoming a missing person and the police think Will had killed her. Then Shelia’s fingerprints are found at murder scene. The police think Will is hiding Shelia. Also Will’s brother had went missing eleven years earlier following a murder of girl that Will had loved. Will finds out the shocking truth that his brother is alive. Then Shelia turns up dead. But when Will goes to Shelia’s funeral, the body was not his Shelia. Apparently the woman he loved was alive and she used Shelia’s ID. That woman also knows Will’s brother. With the help of his co-worker and the sister of his ex, Will finally finds out what happen to his ex who was killed.

Note: there were some differences between the Netflix tv show and the book:

  1. The tv show was based in another country.
  2. The names were changed
  3. Katy Miller kills herself in the show and I think she was like a medium. She kept seeing her dead sister.

I liked both the show and book. Now I’m going to listen to The Omega Factor by Steve Berry.

The Student

I watched The Student. I watched it on it on Tubi. It is a Russian movie so I had to have the subtitles. It has Pyotr Skvortsov, Viktoriya Isakova, Yuliya Aug, Aleksandr Gorchilin, and Svetlana Bragarnik in it.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence and a chiffhanger ending.

In this movie, a teenager named Veniamin Yuzhin refuses to go to swimming class. (This reminds me of my boyfriend. He had complained that his mother wanted him to take up swimming instead of martial arts.) Veniamin tells his mother for her to say it is against his religion. He ends up reading the bible and quotes the bible to the head of the school after he swims with his clothes on. The school then changes the dress code where the girls have on one piece bathing suits. He still doesn’t join in the swimming class. He helps a guy who is crippled and is bullied. The crippled guy is gay and tries to make moves on Veniamin. A girl even kisses him. His gets in a fight with his biology teacher about her teaching of sex. He and the crippled guy has a plan of killing the teacher, but the crippled guy doesn’t go through with the plan (which was good). Then Veniamin kills the crippled guy and then accuses the biology teacher of touching him inappropriately. She loses her job, but instead of leaving the school she bolts her shoes to the floor in her classroom and says she is not leaving. The murder of the crippled boy is discovered and that is end of the movie.

I sorta liked this movie. Next week I’m watching The Student. It’s another movie.
