Perry Mason: The Case of the Sinister Spirit

I watched Perry Mason: The Case of The Sinister Spirit yesterday. I taped it when it was on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. It has Raymond Burr (loved him), Barbara Hale, William Katt, Robert Stack, Dwight Schultz, Kim Delaney, Dennis Lipscomb, Jack Bannon, and Matthew Faison in it.

Warning: there is a little bit of violence and this is a big twist at the end.

In this movie, a horror author named David Hall had invited some people to a hotel to air out some problems he has with them. He had written a book called The Resort which eerie similar to the book. He had the people he had invited as characters in the book. One of those people he invited was a publisher. The publisher asks Perry Mason if he should go to the hotel, and Perry says it’s ok to go. Well the publisher gets accused of murdering the author’s secretary. Perry defends him and the truth comes out.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching Picture Perfect Mysteries: Exit Stage Death.

Mulan (2020)

While Chris was here, one of his Christmas/birthday presents was the new movie Mulan. I told Chris that I had been really wanting to see this new version so we watched it. It has Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Jason Scott Lee, Pei-Pei Cheng, Jun Yu, and Ron Yuan in it.

Big Warning: there is violence.

Since most people have seen the animated version, here’s a quick summary. Mulan decided to substitute herself instead of her injured father when there is an order for soldiers. She dresses as a man and goes into the battle. Unlike the animated movie, a phoenix follows her to watch over her in this movie. After saving the emperor, she is asked to be part of the army, but she refuses.

I loved this movie. Chris didn’t like it. He kept saying that she wasn’t a real person. But I think some folklore can be based on real people. For example our legend of King Arthur and Robin Hood. Here’s an article about the origin of Mulan: https://time.com/5881064/mulan-real-history/

I loved this movie. This is the last Christmas movie. Next week I’m watching Perry Mason: The Case of the Sinister Spirit.

Antebellum

I watched Antebellum while Chris was here. I had been wanting to see this movie too. It has Arabella Landrum, Jena Malone, Eric Lange, Janelle MonĂ¡e, Tongayi Chirisa, Jack Huston, and Gabourey Sidibe in it.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence, rape, and one suicide

In this movie, a woman named Veronica learns what the slaves in pre-Civil War period felt like. She is a public speaker who talks about how to be a successful black woman and then her life gets a horrifying wake up call.

It has Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis (love her), Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Riki Lindhome, and K Callan in it.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence and suicide.

This is a murder mystery movie. In this movie, a mystery author dies. It is assumed that one of the family members killed him. They are nasty and greedy bunch of people. Two officers and a retired detective try to solve the murder. It is assumed that it was one person, but it ends up being a different person that is the killer.

I loved this movie. Chris liked this movie too. I read there will be a sequel.

She had written about her childhood friend’s wish had been granted. But she herself had lost faith in the magic of the tree because her wish wasn’t granted. Her boss assigns her the job to go back to her hometown and find out who grants the wishes and she will get her own column. So she goes with her daughter. They stay with her aunt.
