V.C. Andrews’ Heaven (movie)

I watched V.C. Andrews’ Heaven yesterday. I taped it when it was on Lifetime. It is based on a book series by V.C. Andrews. No, I haven’t read the books. I have read the dollanganger book series. I just wasn’t interested in reading another book series by her. The movie has Annalise Basso, Chris McNally, Julie Benz, Chris William Martin, Samantha Coughlan, Madeline Hirvonen, and Christina Jastrzembska in it.

Warning: there is some sex scenes.

In this movie, a girl named Heaven finds out from her grandmother that her biological mother died when she was born. She is one of five kids and they are poor. Her grandmother mentions that her mother’s family is rich. Her stepmother loses her baby. Then her grandmother dies. Her stepmother goes crazy and leaves. So her father decides to give away the kids. Heaven goes to live with a couple who seems nice at first. The woman (Kitty) makes Heaven clean the house. She is very jealous of Heaven’s friends and family. Later on Kitty discovers that she is really sick so they move into her mother’s house. Kitty’s mother is the same way toward Heaven. Heaven does sleep with her adopted father who is also very jealous of her friends and family. Heaven decides to find her mother’s family.

I have read that there are differences between the book and movie, but I did like the movie. Next week I’m watching Dark Angel which is the second movie and book.

IT Chapter Two

I watched IT Chapter Two yesterday. IT Chapter Two is “based” on the book IT by Stephen King. It is the second half of IT which came out two years ago. It has Stephen King, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, Andy Bean, and Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd in it.

Warning: there is some violence.

I have to say this, they left an important part out of it again. I thought they would have the turtle part in it, but they didn’t. There are some differences. Pennywise ends up being a female spider who has a nest of eggs in the book and the original miniseries. In this movie, Pennywise had spider legs, but clown face. Beverly’s husband shows up in Derry in the book and original miniseries.

Despite no turtle part, I did like the movie. Next week I’m watching V.C. Andrews’ Heaven. No, I’m not reading the books. I’m just going to watch the movies.

The Turning Point

I watched The Turning Point yesterday. I taped it when it was on Cinemax. It has Anne Bancroft, Shirley MacLaine, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Leslie Browne, and Martha Scott in it.

Warning: there is one sex scene.

In this movie, two women are friends. They are ballerinas. One (Deedee) gets married and has three kids. The other (Emma) goes on dancing. Deedee’s daughter gets in the ballet school. Deedee and Emma end up fighting about the past, but they make up later on.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m going to try to watch IT: Chapter 2. If IT doesn’t work, I’m going to watch Heaven.

Dragons in the Waters

I finished Dragons in the Waters by  Madeleine L’Engle. It is the second book of the Polly O’Keefe book series. There are three books in the book series.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, Polly, her brother Charles, and her father are going on a boat ride to Port of Dragons in Venezula. They met a boy named Simon Renier and his “Cousin” Forsyth Phair who are going to Caracas to deliver an important painting to a museum.  When Simon tries to board the ship he almost gets killed, but Polly saves him. Simon almost gets killed again later on, but one of the ship’s staff saves him. Then Simon’s “cousin” gets killed on the ship. They find out later that the cousin was a con man and the real Forsyth Phair died a few months back. The con man was trying to kill Simon. In the end, the murderer was caught and Simon finds peace on Dragonlake.

I loved this book. I will be getting the third Polly book. I’m reading next N0S4A2 by Joe Hill. Yes, there is a tv show based on the book. I will be watching it while reading the book.

The Belko Experiment

I watched The Belko Experiement yesterday. I taped it when it was on Cinemax. I had thought I seen this, but I hadn’t. It has John Gallagher Jr., John C. McGinley, Tony Goldwyn, Adria Arjona, Melonie Diaz, Owain Yeoman, Brent Sexton, and Gregg Henry in it.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence in it.

In this movie, a company called Belko Industries does inspections at the front gate and lets some people leave. There are 80 employees in the building. A voice announces they have kill two people in the building or some people will die. At first they think it’s a joke until people die. There is little trackers in their heads which cause the first people to die. Later on the voice says that the one who has the highest kills lives. In the end, Mike is the sole survivor. He learns that the whole thing was an experiment.Mike kills the man behind the voice and two guards. Then the screen shows other experiments happening, and stage 2 is going to begin.

I did like this movie. But I think I would have took out the tracker after killing the guards. I don’t know if there will be a sequel to this movie. I hope there will be to see what stage 2 is. Next week I’m watching The Turning Point.

Moon on Crusted Snow

I finished reading Moon of Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice. It is a book I recommended to Overdrive and it came available.

Big Warning: there is some violence and some sad parts

This book is about a Canadian Indian tribe that loses even modern thing through a harsh winter. Evan is the main character. He first discovers that the cell phones won’t work. His girlfriend and two kids find out there is no cable tv. Then the landline phone service goes out. The Indian tribe go door to door with news. Then two college kids come back home from the South. They tell horrible stories of the city in the South and college students. The tribe decides to use an emergency food storage. Then a white man (Scott) shows up from the South. He tells them that he can hunt and he could help them if they let him stay. They let him stay, but he ends up being a bad guy. Some more people from the South come too. In the end, Scott supposedly stole a body and was going to eat it. Scott is killed and Evan’s family moved to a safer place he had built for them.

I loved, loved this book. I didn’t want it to end. Now I’m reading Dragons in the Water by Madeleine L’Engle. It is the second book of the Polly O’Keefe book series.
