An Acceptable Loss

I watched An Acceptable Loss. I had taped it when it was on Showtime. It has Tika Sumpter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ben Tavassoli, and Alex Weisman in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence and have tissues ready because a very sad ending.

In this movie, a woman named Elizabeth worked for the vice president. She had info of some so-called terrorists were going to be in one area at the same time. The vice president wanted her to recommend to the president to use a special drone strike to take out all the terrorists. Well the drone strike killed alot of people and the info was supposedly false info. Four years later the Vice President becomes president and Elizabeth becomes a professor at a university. A student stalks her and he ends up helping her get her story out.

I didn’t like the ending, but I did like the movie. Next week I’m watching a Lifetime movie called The Bad Seed. It is a remake of the 1956 movie.

The Case for Christ (book)

I finished reading The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel. Yes, there are a movie and a documentary based on the book. I watched the movie and the documentary. The movie talks about what caused Lee Strobel to write the book. The documentary is of the same experts that are in the book.

This book is mainly of people Lee Strobel had interviewed while on his journey to becoming a Christian. Lee Strobel was a legal journalist. In the book, he uses real-life cases for examples of seeking the truth about Jesus. This book did make me think and gave me some new insight about Jesus.

I really enjoyed this book. Now I’m going to listen to The House Long Ago by Steve Berry.

The Case for Christ (movie)

I watched The Case for Christ. It is based on the book by Lee Strobel. Yes, I’m reading the book. I should be finished reading it by next weekend. This movie was supposed to be free on Crackle, but when I clicked to watch it, Crackle deleted the movie. I did watch the movie though. It has L. Scott Caldwell, Erika Christensen, Mike Vogel, Rus Blackwell, and Renell Gibbs in it.

Note there are some differences between the book and this movie. The book was written much later than the movie implies and the first case he covered he received a phone call from an informant than discovering the evidence himself.

This movie tells the family side of the story more than the book does. In this movie, Lee’s daughter chokes on hard candy at a restaurant and a nurse was there and saved her life. The nurse tells Lee’s wife that God told her to come to that restaurant. Lee’s wife then goes to church with the nurse and gives her life to Jesus. Lee doesn’t like it so he goes on a mission to prove her wrong and he ends up being a Christian in the process.

I liked this movie. There is a documentary that is closer to the book and I may watch it after I finish reading the book. Next week I’m watching An Acceptable Loss.

Bad Times at the El Royale

I watched Bad Times at the El Royale. I had taped it when it was on HBO. My mother had recommended me to see this movie and I’m glad I had taped it. It has Jeff Bridges, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Chris Hemsworth, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, and Bethany Brown in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, there are seven strangers that go to a hotel that is on the state lines of California and Nevada. They have something to hide which ends up costing their lives.

Yes, I didn’t do my usual summary because this was an awesome movie. It is as good as Quentin Tarantino’s movies. But they didn’t tell who was the management of the hotel. My mother thinks it was the CIA or another federal agency.

Like I said I’m watching The Case for Christ this weekend.

The Silmarillion

I finally finished reading The Silmarillion by J. R. Tolkien. It is the prequel to  The Lord of the Rings book series.  Yes, I did read The Lord of the Rings book series. One of the reasons why it took a long time to read was because I was getting confused between The Lord of the Rings and the Narnia book series, and The Silmarillion is hard to read. I had read an article about the hardest books to read and this is one of them.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence and some sad parts.

In this book, there are several tales that intertwine together. It starts out where Middle Earth is formed from a void and songs make up the land, trees, and flowers (similar to the Narnia book series). Then an elf gets jealous of the beautiful things and he splits up the other elves with a song of his own. He does some evil things. One of the tales was of some jewels that were very special. The evil elf does take them and he ends up getting put in a cage for a little while. The jewels do get lost forever. Later on, the evil elf’s second in command takes over and he makes rings to give the men, elves, and dwarfs. He also makes The One which the hobbits find.

I really did like this book. Now I’m reading The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. There is a movie based on The Case for Christ and I am watching it this weekend.

Once Upon a Time in Deadwood

I watched Once Upon a Time in Deadwood. I watched it on Tubi. It has Robert Bronzi, Michael Paré, Karin Brauns, Lauren Compton, J.D. Angstadt, George j. Merino, Sierra Sherbundy, and Jadzia Perez in it.

Big Warning: there is alot of violence and bad acting.

In this movie, a man who was a colonel in the army is now a gunslinger. A woman named Ursula finds him and asks if he would save her sister and her slave girl from some kidnappers. The kidnappers took them to Deadwood where they would work in the Gem Saloon (Al Swearengen’s saloon). The gunslinger refused. She save him some food and begged him to save them. Then she told him that the food was poisoned and he has to save them because her sister has the antidote. On their journey, He shoots some guys who were Al’s guys. Then Ursula tells him that the food wasn’t poisoned. She lied to get him to save them. He gets mad and leaves her. She does get to Deadwood and confronts the men who have her sister and tries to shoot them. Then the gunslinger shows up and kills the men and the slave gets killed, but her sister is saved.

Even though there was bad acting, it was a pretty good movie. The music was good too. Next week I’m watching Bad Times at El Royale.
