Adam (2009)

I watched Adam (2009) yesterday. I taped it when it was on Cinemax. It has Hugh Dancy, Rose Byrne, Peter Gallagher, Amy Irving, Frankie Faison, and Mark Linn-Baker in it.

In this movie, a man named Adam has Asperger syndrome (high functioning autism). His father dies and he struggles living alone. A woman named Beth moves in the apartment complex. They meet and eventually fall in love. Adam gets a new job in California and he wanted Beth to move there with him, but she ends up refusing to move with him there. He ends up thriving there in California without her.

I sorta liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Love Liza.

Everything Must Go

I watched Everything Must Go yesterday. I taped it when it was on HBO. It has Will Ferrell, Rebecca Hall, Michael Peรฑa, Christopher Jordan Wallace, Laura Dern, Stephen Root, and Glenn Howerton in it.

Big Warning: there is one sex scene.

In this movie, a man named Nick loses his job and his wife kicks him out all in the same day. His friend tells him to have a lard sale to get rid of the stuff in front of his house. Nick is an alcoholic and he sorta sales some stuff. A boy in the neighborhood helps him. Nick later sobers up and he sales everything and wins back the keys to the house from his wife.

I did like this movie even though it had a sad ending. Wednesday I’m watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Next week I’m watching Adam (2009).

Crimson Death

I finished listening to Crimson Death by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty fifth book of the Anita Blake book series. There are twenty six books in the Anita Blake book series.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence and some sex scenes

In this book, Anita Blake is asked to join a case with Edward/Ted. He is in Ireland on a vampire case. The people in Ireland was surprised about the vampires because they thought there weren’t any there. But one of the vampires that Jean Claude and Anita has in their group came from Ireland and he had said the vampire who made him hid herself very well from the Ireland people. That same vampire was having problems. He was having nightmares. (At first I thought he was causing the vampire attacks from his dreams. But I was wrong.) After he had sex with Anita and Nathanael, they grew in power.  Anita goes to Ireland to find out who is behind the vampire attacks. She gets hurt by one of the vampires and then she gets kidnapped by the head vampire who uses fear as food.  Anita finds out the vampire who was keeping her hostage was the one behind the vampire attacks. She was trying to make a big scene to get Anita to come to Ireland so she could kill Anita and take her power. But Anita and Nathanael get away. Anita ends up using ghosts to kill the vampires and the main vampire.

I did like this book. I’m listening to next Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling.

A Cure for Wellness

I watched A Cure for Wellness yesterday. I taped it when it was on Cinemax. It has Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs, Mia Goth, Ivo Nandi, Celia Imrie, and Harry Groener in it.

Big Warning: There are some gross parts.

In this movie, A stockbroker gets a letter from the CEO. He reads the letter and he has a heart attack and dies. The board of directors decide to send another stockbroker to bring the CEO back home so he can sign off on an important merger. The stockbroker goes to the “wellness spa.” But he can’t bring back the CEO. He later learns about the history about the so-called spa. He also gets stuck there, but he does something drastic and decides to quit his job. (Note: I think he decides to quit because he now knows a valuable and powerful secret that could make him a billionaire.)

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching Everything Must Go.

Big Trouble

I watched Big Trouble on Monday. I taped it when it was on HBO. It has Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Stanley Tucci, Tom Sizemore, Johnny Knoxville, Zooey Deschanel, Ben Foster, Janeane Garofalo, Patrick Warburton, Sofรญa Vergara, and Jason Lee in it.

Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this movie, a teenage boy asks his father for the car so he can shot a water gun at a girl. A hippie guy goes to a bar and gets beat up. While at the girl’s house, the teenage boy doesn’t know there is a hire hit men to actually kill the girl’s father. The hitman shoots the tv instead. The hippie sees all this and saves the maid. A mysterious suitcase arrives at the bar and the girl’s father wants the suitcase. Then two robbers come to rob the bar and take the suitcase. The girl’s father tries to get the suitcase back and the robbers shoot the tv again. The father of the teenage boy ends up saving the day.

I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching A Cure for Wellness.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Chris and I did go see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker after Christmas. It has Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Joonas Suotamo, and Ian McDiarmid in it.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence and one very sad part which is so wrong.

In this movie, Rey is still trying channel the Jedi’s powers. She also is still connected to Kylo Ren/Ben. Kylo Ren learns who Rey’s parents are. He later tells her and she is shocked. Rey does channels the Jedi’s powers and defeats the evil one. Then the very sad part which is very wrong happens.

Note: There should be a writer’s decree that if you make a character a good person, you SHOULDN’T kill them off. (gets off soapbox.)

Even though there was a sad part, I loved the movie.

Jumanji: The Next Level

Chris and I went to see Jumanji: The Next Level after Christmas. It has Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Madison Iseman, Marin Hinkle, Jack Black, Alex Wolff, Colin Hanks, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, Spencer goes back in the game because he wanted to the type of guy he was in the game in the previous sequel. The type of guy with muscles, etc. The others find out and they decide to go back in the game to rescue Spencer. The difference this time Bethany is left behind and Spencer’s grandfather and his friend go in the game too. Spencer’s grandfather and his friend patch things up along the way to win the game. They do find Spencer and Spencer is a girl in the game at first.

I loved this movie. It’s not as funny as the first sequel, but it was an awesome movie. The credits has a hint there could, hopefully, be another movie coming out soon.
