Wonder Woman

I watched Wonder Woman yesterday. I taped it when it was on HBO. It has Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Eugene Brave Rock, Lucy Davis, Elena Anaya, and Ann Wolfe in it.

Warning: there is some violence and sad scene at the end.

I never read the comics, but I loved the tv series of Wonder Woman when I was growing up. It was one show I watched with my grandfather. He loved the actress who played Wonder Woman. I wish she had been in the movie. At first I thought about not seeing this movie because she wasn’t in it. But everyone had said the movie was great so I decided to see it.

In this movie, Diana is protected by the Amazons on a private protected island. The seal is broken later on when a fighter place crashes. Diana saves the pilot. The Amazons question him. He is a spy for Britain. Diana wants to go with him to help him fight the war. The Germans find the island and they kill some of Amazons. Diana also finds out she is no ordinary Amazon. She does fight in the war. She finds the god of War which tells her she is actually Zeus’ daughter. He wants her to join with him to destroy mankind and rebuild the earth. She refuses and she kills him.

I loved this movie. Supposedly there is new Wonder Woman movie coming out in 2020. Next week I’m watching Atomic Blonde.

The Detective (1954)

I watched The Detective yesterday. I taped it when it was on TCM. It is loosely based on a short story called The Blue Cross by G.K. Chesterton. It has Alec Guinness, Joan Greenwood, Peter Finch, Cecil Parker, Bernard Lee, and Gérard Oury in it.

I love watching the Father Brown show on PBS. When I saw this was going to be on TCM, I decided to taped it and watch it. In this movie, Father Brown is arrested for burglary. The police wouldn’t believe that he just talked the the real burglar out of stealing. He was let go though. Then he finds out a thief was going to steal a cross he has in his church. The thief is the famous Flambeau. Instead of letting the police protect the cross, he tries to protect it himself. He meets a another priest which ends up being Flambeau. Father Brown tries to reason with Flambeau. Father Brown does get the cross back.

I did like this movie. Next week I’m watching Wonder Woman.

Dolores Claiborne (movie)

I watched Dolores Clairborne last Thursday. It is loosely based on the book by Stephen King. I taped it when it was on HBO. It has Kathy Bates, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judy Parfitt, Christopher Plummer, David Strathairn, Eric Bogosian, John C. Reilly, and Kelly Burnett in it.

Big Warning: there is a hint of child molestation, and a little bit of violence.

Quick Summary: a woman named Dolores Clairborne is accused of killing her employer Vera Donovan. She says she is innocent.

The differences between the movie and book:
1. In the book, Dolores has three kids. In the movie, she has only one kid.
2. In the movie, her daughter is there to testify that her mother didn’t do it. In the book, her daughter isn’t there when she gives her testimony.
3. In the book, she is pregnant with one of kids when she works for Vera.
4. The eclipse was moved up in time in the movie than in the book.
5. She has the eclipse glasses in her hand when she was running towards the well in the book. In the movie she has her shoe in her hand.

I did like this movie. I will be watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire once I finish listening to the book.

Dolores Claiborne

I finished reading Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King. There is a movie that loosely based on the book.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence and a hint of child molestation. Big Warning 2: it is a little scary.

In this book, a woman named Dolores Claiborne is accused of killing her employer Vera Donovan. She is telling her story of what happened to the police. She also admits to killing her husband. Vera supposedly killed her husband. She made it look like an accident. Vera gave the idea to Dolores. The reason she killed her husband was because he was messing around with her daughter and he took the kids’ college money.

I did like this book. Now I’m listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling.

Pet Sematary 2019

I watched the remake Pet Sematary. I watched it on the computer. It has Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, John Lithgow, Jeté Laurence, Hugo Lavoie, Obssa Ahmed, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Frank Schorpion, and Linda E. Smith in it.

Warning: there is lots of violence and some gross parts.

Quick Summary: Lewis Creed and his family moved to Maine. He is a doctor at an university. There is a path near his house that leads to a pet cemetery. Beyond the pet sematary is a burial ground that brings thing back to life.

The differences between the original, the book, and this movie:
1. Ellie is the one who gets killed by the truck. Not Gage as in the book and original movie.
2. The cat gets killed at Halloween. In the original movie and book, Church is killed at Thanksgiving while Rachel and the kids are away.
3. They were from Chicago in the original move and book. In this movie, they are from Boston.
4. Jud’s dog is Spot in the book and original movie. In this movie, the dog is Biffer.
5. Rachel is the one who suggests going away when Ellie is killed, but in the original movie and book, Lewis is the one who suggests it.
6. Ellie “seems” normal. Unlike Gage in the original movie and book.
7. Ellie is the one who discovers the pet sematary by herself.
8. Lewis finds info on his computer about stuff that Jud tells him in the original movie and book. The bull, and Mr. Bateman
9. The ending way different. Ellie kills her mother and brings her back to life and then Rachel kills Lewis and brings him back to life. They end up going after Gage who is in the car.

I think I like the original movie better. Monday I’m watching The Detective which is a Father Brown movie.

Suspiria (1977)

My mother and I watched Suspiria (1977) on Mother’s Day. There is a remake of it made last year. I had been wanting to see the original. We watched it on Hoopla. It has Jessica Harper, Stefania Casini, Flavio Bucci, Eva Axén, Rudolf Schündler, Udo Kier, Alida Valli, and Joan Bennett in it.

Warning: there is lots of violence and some scary scenes.

In this movie, a woman named Suzy travels to Germany in hopes to join a ballet school. Madame Blanc owns the school. When Suzy arrives, she can’t get in. Good thing she didn’t. One of the students gets killed. She learns this the next morning by Madame Blanc. (Madame Blanc acts like it’s nothing to have a student killed.) Later on Suzy get sick and is put on a special “diet.” Then maggots fall from the ceiling. Madame Blanc says it was from rotten food. (which is stupid. why put food in the attic? And no one questions it.) Then another student goes “missing” (actually killed). Suzy finds out a witch coven owns the school. She kills the head witch.

My mother and I sorta liked this movie. I don’t know when I will watch the remake.

The Chronicle Mysteries: Vines that Bind

I watched The Chronicles Mysteries: Vine that Bind. I taped it when it was on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. It has Alison Sweeney, Benjamin Ayres, Dave Collette, Olivia Steele Falconer, Rebecca Staab, Michael Kopsa, Malcolm Stewart, Primo Allon, Rochelle Greenwood, Garrett Black, and Pippa Mackie in it.

Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this movie, Alex takes up a case about a seemingly accidental death of a founder of a vineyard. Alex discovers it wasn’t an accident when another death occurs. Alex and Drew end up finding out who is the murderer.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching The Detective. It’s an old movie.

Hotel Artemis

Hotel Artemis is the movie my mother and I was wanting to see. We watched it on Hoopla. It has Jodie Foster (love her), Sterling K. Brown (love him), Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum (love him), Brian Tyree Henry, Dave Bautista, Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, and Zachary Quinto.

Warning: there is lots of violence.

In this movie, it is 2028. There is a large riot happen in LA. It mainly against a water company which had polluted the water. While the riot was going on, some bank robbers was struggling getting a vault open. They end up taking a pen off a man. One of the bank robbers gets shot badly and his brother calls in to the nurse at Hotel Artemis. It’s not really a hotel. It’s a hospital for criminals. Nurse tries to patch him up, but tells the brother that his brother is dying anyway. Another patient in the hotel is a hired assassin. She tells the brother that the pen belongs to the Wolf King and has diamonds in it. The Wolf King does come to the hotel because he got shot and knows the pen was stolen. The hired assassin causes a power outage and kills the Wolf King. The nurse and the brother made it out of the hotel.

I loved this movie. My mother also liked the movie. They better made a sequel. It deserves a sequel. This Wednesday I’m hoping to watch the remake of Pet Sematary.

Mother’s Day

Like I said I wanted my mother and I to watch the remake of Pet Sematary. Well, it wasn’t on our local theater and no one else had it. So instead of watching that movie, I suddenly remember a movie that I had been wanting to see on Hoopla. Hoopla is a part of my local library. I can rent movies, listen to audiobooks, and rent music using my library card. While I was looking for that movie, I saw another movie that my mother and I have been wanting to see.

So we saw both movies. Also Sunday I gave Lily one of her new treats. It’s Kangaroo meat. It didn’t make her hop. She did like it.

Pet Sematary 2

I watched Pet Sematary Two. I had taped it when it was on BBC America. It has Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards, Clancy Brown, Jared Rushton, Darlanne Fluegel, Jason McGuire, and Jim Peck in it.

Warning: there is some gross parts and some violence.

In this movie, Chase Matthews and his son move to Maine when his wife dies. She was a famous actress and she was electrocuted while on set. Jeff, Chase’s son, gets bullied by Clyde. Clyde tells him about the path beyond Pet Sematary that brings people and animals back to life. Jeff’s friend Drew decides to bury his dog in the burial ground when his step-father kills the dog. The dog does come back to life. The dog does protect Drew from his step-father. But the step-father dies. They decide to bury him in the burial ground too. At first Drew likes it because his step-father is not as mean now. But later on he tries to kill Drew and his mother. They both die in a car wreck. Gus, Drew’s step-father, does save Jeff from Clyde. But then kills Clyde and brings him back to life. Gus also helps Jeff bring his mother back to life too. Clyde tries to kill Jeff. Jeff’s mother actually locks the door while Clyde is trying to kill him. Jeff kills Clyde and helps his father to escape from his undead mother.

I sorta liked this movie. I will be watching Dolores Clairborne once I finish reading it.
