Would You Rather? (movie)

I did watch Would You Rather yesterday. I taped it when a movie channel was a free preview. It has Brittany Snow, Jeffrey Combs, Jonny Coyne, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Enver Gjokaj, Sasha Grey, John Heard, Charlie Hofheimer, Eddie Steeples, June Squibb, Robin Lord Taylor, Robb Wells, and Logan Miller in it.

Warning: there is some violence.  Warning 2: I didn’t like the ending. I could have written it better.

In the movie, a woman named Iris that has a brother who very sick. He needs bone marrow, but she isn’t a match. A man offers her a way to get help for her brother, but she has to attend a dinner. Not only that but to participate in a game with seven other people. The game is Would You Rather, but in a very sick way. She does go and wins the game.

I think the ending could be an open-ended ending though. I mean she did try to escape so they could have killed him. But still it was a terrible ending. I would have put that he lived and got better.

Next week I’m watching two (maybe four) movies. The two movies are Now You See Me 1 and Now You See Me 2. The other two I might watch are The Village and Lady In The Water if I finish the fifth Dark Tower book. (I have seen The Village. I just want to see it again because the fifth Dark Tower book reminds me of it.)

Summer is here!

Yesterday was the first day of Summer!!! I wore my mother’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” shirt yesterday to celebrate.

It’s been hot so I have been trying to keep Lily in as much as I can. A few days ago I saw some kittens at the old trailer I used to live in. My mother put some food out for them. Today I saw them out so I put some food out there for them. They are so cute.

It Follows

I watched It Follows yesterday. I have been wanting to see it ever since the commercials of it was on tv. But I was nervous that this was going to be a really scary movie, but it wasn’t really scary. I saw this on Netflix. It has Keir Gilchrist, Lili Sepe, Maika Monroe, Jake Weary, and Daniel Zovatto in it.

Warning: there are some sex scenes and some violence.

A 19-year-old girl named Jay goes on a date with a cute guy. She ends up having sex with him in his car. He kidnaps her in order to tell her that he gave her a curse where she will see an invisible being that will follow her. If it catches her it will kill her. He also tells her to have sex with someone to pass it on. She runs from the being until she does pass it on. The bad thing the guy she passes it to gets killed. Her friends come up with a plan to kill it. But the plan sorta fails, but the being does get shot. Unknowingly though it still follows her at the end.

I sorta liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Would you Rather? (it’s another horror movie. One I had been avoiding.)

Father’s Day Weekend

Happy Father’s Day early!!

I don’t really celebrate Father’s Day because I never met my biological father. I know his name and where he lives, but never met him. I’m spending the day with my mother on Father’s Day. It’s kinda inside joke. Many years ago my mother started having a really short haircut. This was before it was really popular. We were in a public bathroom (I think it was in the mall), and a little girl said there is a man in here. Since then I would joke to my mother about it.

The Red Turtle

I watched The Red Turtle yesterday. I had taped it when Starz was a free preview. It is an animated movie. Lily, my black cat, gives this movie two paws up. It has Emmanuel Garijo, Tom Hudson, Baptiste Goy, and Barbara Beretta in it.

Warning: Have tissues ready.

It’s sorta a silent animated movie, but it’s really good. It is about a man who gets shipwrecked on an island. He’s all alone for a long time. He finally gets the courage to make a raft, but something keeps bumping his raft. It ends up being a big red turtle. Mad, he hurts the turtle. Then he feels guilty so he tries to bring it back to life. Then the red turtle turns into a woman. They fall in love and have a baby. Their son ends up living them. The couple grows old together.

I loved this movie even though it was sad at the end. Next week I’m watching It Follows.

An interesting error

The interesting error  is one I didn’t make, but I did make an error which I will get to in a minute.

Last year (I think) our church started using the Explore the Bible Sunday School books. I really like the books. But this quarter that made really bad error which one of the class members saw. I didn’t know about the error until he mentioned it. The first page of the book tells the date and what lessons is in the book. The first lesson is on June 3. But when you get to the lesson on the bottom of the page it says September 3. The other lessons say September too.

The other error is one I made. Sunday after church I was going to print out some coupons before going to the grocery store. The coupons weren’t printing. Then I noticed that a red light on the router was blinking. I called AT&T and the guy said he would make me an appointment for Wednesday!! I was freaking out because I had no internet. Yesterday I decided to change the cable that run out of the cable and it worked!! I canceled my appointment.

The Lego Batman Movie

I watched The Lego Batman movie yesterday. I had taped it when HBO was a free preview. It has Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, Susan Bennett, Zach Galifianakis, Jenny Slate, and Conan O’Brien.

Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

Before I began I should say I loved the narration of this movie and the music was great. In this movie, Batman was trying to clean up Gotham City. He made some rude remarks to Joker. Joker’s feelings are hurt. Batman then goes to a fundraiser. An orphan asks him if he would be interested in adopting. Not really listening, he says yes. So he “adopts” this kid. Meanwhile Joker sees a news report about Superman’s plan to get rid of villains in his town. Joker gets a crazy idea to break out those villains, but he has to get arrested first. So Batman does arrest him. But the new policewoman doesn’t think sending Joker to that other prison is necessary. Batman ends up using his adopted son to steal a device to send Joker to that other prison. Joker does break out those villains and does all of damage to Gotham. In the end, Batman realizes he can’t do everything himself.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching The Red Turtle.

Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health

I finished reading Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard. I got the book from Open Library. I didn’t buy the book.

I’m not going to do a summary of this book. Instead, I’m going to explain why I read this book. No, I’m haven’t gone to the dark side to be a Scientologist. I love learning about cults and bible prophecy. I have done some research on Scientology before and read Leah Remini’s book and Lawrence Wright’s book. I had been debating on whether to read Dianetics or not.  Then recently Scientology the cult began a network on DirectTV in response to Leah Remini’s show. I watched a few shows on their network. That’s when I decided to read the book. I wanted to see what he actually said.

A lot of what he said was BS. He made wild claims that Dianetics is a cure-all. Of course, that is one of the reasons he went bankrupt. I think another reason he went bankrupt was that a doctor left the foundation and wrote a book how Dianetics doesn’t work. ( I would love to read that book, but I would have to buy it.)  Some of the book did make sense. I think it may help people with PTSD. A guy I knew went crazy when a train went by because his mother was killed on a train track. I think Dianetics may help him too.

He kept saying Dianetics wasn’t hypnotism in the first half of the book. I just couldn’t figure out how you could get to the unconscious part of the mind without hypnotism.  Then when I got the therapy part, it sounds like hypnotism to me. Then he says it’s similar to hypnotism, you aren’t put to sleep. Just in reverie which is a dream-like state. (Reverie is new tv show which is good by the way. It’s about a woman who gets people out of the dream-like state.)

I don’t know if he originally wanted to help people or not. He shouldn’t have made the wild claims if he did. And he really should haven’t made it into a religion/cult if he really wanted to help people. I don’t see how learning about Xenu (which don’t exist) is helping people.   The version of the book I read was the 1985 version. At the back of the book, it doesn’t mention anything about Scientology.  It did give “testimonies” of people saying Dianetics helped them. But a lot of the names of the people weren’t given.

Now I’m reading Dark Tower 5: Wolves of the Calla by Stephen King.
