The reason is because a girl she knew had disappeared 20 years ago. She wants to find out what happened to her. She teams up with a reporter named Drew. Her friend ends up being alive. Her friend had left because she was scared that the person who killed a businessman at party would come after her and her family.

Courting Darkness

I finished reading Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers. It is part of the His Fair Assassins book series. I have read the other books in the book series. I do highly recommend them to anyone who loves historical fiction.

Warning: Of course there is some violence since they are assassins. There are three sex scenes.

In this book. Mortain, the god of Death, has died. His daughters (the assassins) discover that one of his gifts is gone. The marque on which they know who to kill is no longer visible. But other gifts are still usable. One of his daughter is Lady Sybella. She is positioned at the duchess’ side. The king of France decides to marry the duchess instead of causing a war. The king’s sister, though, doesn’t like it and doesn’t like Sybella who stand up for the duchess. Sybella’s brother breaks in the castle and tries to take the younger sisters away from Sybella. But the king intervenes later on. Sybella also tries to look for Death’s other daughters. She later learns too late that they were positioned miles away from the castle. Meanwhile Genevieve and Margot (two other assassins) are positioned at a Count’s side. Margot forgoes her duties as an assassin to become the Count’s mistress. She ends up dying in childbirth. The Count tells (a lie I think) Genevieve that the convent is disbanded. The Count really wants to either make Genevieve his mistress or have control over her.  She meets a prisoner who ends up of noble blood. She decides to use him to escape the castle. She spills the beans about the convent to the king.

I loved this book. I hope there will be more book in this series since it did have a cliffhanger ending. I’m reading next Pet Sematary by Stephen King. Yes, I have seen the older version of movie. I hope to see the remake too.

Riviera

About a month ago I was looking for something good on tv. I read the summary of a show called Riviera on the Ovation network. It sounded like a good show so I was watched it. The season finale happens tomorrow. Julia Stiles is in the show.

Riviera is about a woman named Georgina. She married to Constantine Clios. He is a billionaire banker. Georgina buys art for Constantine. She thinks he just loves art, but there is a darker side to the art buying. She doesn’t find out until the yacht Constantine was on explodes. Like Georgina, I thought maybe he faked his death. But sadly it looks like he is really dead. She is alone in fixing the mess Constantine left behind.

I love this show. I hope Ovation will have season 2.

Many Waters

I finished listening to Many Waters by Madeleine L’Engle. It is the fourth book of the Time Quintet book series.  There are five books in the book series.

Warning: there is some gross parts and a little bit violence.

In this book, Meg’s twin brothers, Denny and Sandy, were home alone.  They were going to make cocoa, but the cocoa was in their parents’ lab. They go in there to get cocoa and discover their dad has an odd looking new keyboard. It is winter there so one of the twin mess on the keyboard to make them go somewhere hot. They land in a desert place. They meet a small man with a mammoth. They are feverish from the hot sun so instead of walking to the man’s tent, they ride on unicorns. (Yay unicorns! I love unicorns.) One of the brothers pass out and disappear. The other arrives at the grandfather’s tent. He is been looked after. The other one goes into another tent and is thrown out that tent. The brothers do find each other again. They discover they had landed in Noah’s time before the flood. They fall in love with one of Noah’s daughters. They also become like family to all of Noah’s family. They do find a way to get back home via unicorn and angel.

I loved this book. I’m reading next Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers. It is part of the His Fair Maidens book series.

The Month of April

Happy April!!

It seems like March took long.

This month is semi busy for me. Later this month my best-friend’s birthday happens. And Easter is the 21st. For Easter we are going to a sunrise service and then to my great-aunt’s house. Lily will have a treat for Easter and my best-friend’s birthday.

Also Killing Eve comes back on. And the remake of Pet Sematary comes out. I want to read the book. I have it on hold, but it says 6 months on Overdrive. I might get it on Openlibrary.

BirdBox (movie)

I had already seen BirdBox with my mother, but I can’t remember the people in the movie. So I watched it again. It has Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, Jacki Weaver, Danielle Macdonald, Tom Hollander, BD Wong, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Vivien Lyra Blair, and Julian Edwards in it.

Warning: there is some intense parts and some violence.

Quick Summary: It is about a creature that kills people (making them commit suicide) when they see it.

There are many differences between the book and movie:
1. Tom is not black in the book.
2. Malorie’s sister dies in a bathroom in the book.
3. Malorie’s sister’s name is Shannon in the book.
4. There are seven people in the “safe house:” Malorie, Don, Felix, Olympia, Jules, Cheryl, and Gary (who comes later in the book).
5. Tom and Jules goes out to get food and guide dogs in the book.
6. Don opens the blinds in the book, and Tom dies earlier in the book.
7. The owner of the “safe house” does die before Malorie gets there in the book.

Even there are many differences , it’s still an awesome movie.
