Nope (movie)

I watched Nope. It is Jordan Peele’s new movie. I have seen his other movies and so I had to see this one. I will be watching it again with my mother hopefully soon. It has Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, Steven Yeun,
Wrenn Schmidt, Keith David, and Jacob Kim in it.

Note: Before seeing this movie, you should see a clip on Jordan Peele’s Twitter page first. I wish I had seen it before I watched the movie because it makes more sense now. Also, he says this movie is a metaphor of all the bad news we consume. Someone on a website commented that maybe it was a rogue AI. Which I think is a possibility. Jordan also had there may be a sequel to this movie. I hope there is because there is a cliffhanger.

Big Warning: there is some disturbing parts and a cliffhanger.

In this movie, a man named Otis Haywood owns a horse ranch. The horses are used in movies, commercials, etc. In a freak accident, Otis gets killed by a quarter falling out of the sky. Other metal things are also falling out of the sky. With his father dead, OJ ends up selling the horses to a neighbor rancher Ricky Park. But OJ doesn’t know that the horses become sacrifices to something bigger which Ricky can’t control. Ricky has issues that he hasn’t gotten over. OJ and his sister end up saving everyone.

I loved this movie, but it did leave some questions at the end. Next week I’m watching Second Nature.

Dark Serpent

I finished reading Dark Serpent by Kylie Chan. This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series. She has written 10 books of the books series. She is writing a new book of the series and it will be out soon. She wrote a dragon book series that I would like to read.

Big Warning: there is some gross parts and one “sad” part.

In this book, Emma, John, Simone, and three others went to Wales to find out about Emma’s heritage. They find out that she is from a serpent people who were made by gods to help destroy the Romans. The problem is that the serpent people accidentally kill John and Emma gets kidnapped by the Demon King of both the West and East. They want to take over the world. George aka Kitty Kwork wants to have Emma’s kids. Before she was kidnapped, Emma discovers she is pregnant.  She “loses” the baby and George takes some of her ovaries again. (I sorta think George lied to Emma saying the baby is dead.) John goes crazy and goes to the West Heaven, but ends up going back home to find the Mountain has been attacked by some poisoned insects. But then the gateways are closed to the Western Heavens. John does find a way and he rescues Emma. The elixir is ready for Emma to take for her to be raised to be immortal like John.

I love this book. Now I’m reading Demon Child by Kylie Chan. It’s the next book in the book series.

Vacation

I watched Vacation. I had taped it when it was on TNT. It has Ed Helms,
Christina Applegate, Skyler Gisondo, Steele Stebbins, Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann, Chevy Chase (love him), and Beverly D’Angelo in it.

Big Warning: there are two gross parts.

In this movie, Rusty Griswold has a tradition of taking his family to a cabin every year. He overhears his wife saying that she would love to go to Paris or somewhere else instead of the cabin. He gets the great idea about going to the Walley World Amusement park of his childhood. They go, but things don’t go to plan. They go see Clark who tells him to go on ahead to Walley World anyway. They do and they have a great time.

I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Nope.

The Forever Purge

I watched The Forever Purge. I had seen the other Purge movies and the tv series. I had forgotten that they made a new one until I saw an ad of another Purge and looked it up to see if I had seen it and remembered that I hadn’t seen this one. It has Ana de la Reguera, Tenoch Huerta, Josh Lucas, Leven Rambin, Cassidy Freeman, Will Patton, and Gregory Zaragoza.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence and one sad part.

In this movie, a woman named Adela and her husband sneak into Texas from Mexico. Her husband works for a ranger. She works in a kitchen. Then the Purge day comes. Her husband and other workers are given a bonus to keep safe. Purge happens and they go to a building to wait. Nothing really happens (I kept thinking that the ranger’s son was going to go out to kill Adela, but it doesn’t happen). The next morning everything is supposed to go back to normal. But things don’t happen that way. A group of people continues the Purge. Saying it’s the Forever Purge. One of the ranger’s workers kills the ranger and Adela’s husband kills the killer and saves the ranger’s family. Adela almost gets killed but is saved by a co-worker. She is taken into custody, but she later meets up with her husband. They all decide to try to make it to Mexico. They do make it with some help.

I liked this movie. I have read that there might be a new one after this one. Next week I’m watching Vacation.

Flowers in the Attic: The Origin: The Martyr

I watched the last part of Flowers in the Attic: The Origin: The Martyr. It is based on the book Garden of Shadows which was written by Andrew Neiderman who is the ghostwriter of V.C. Andrews. Yes, I have read that book, but it’s been awhile since I read it. It has Jemima Rooper, Max Irons, T’Shan Williams, Peter Bramhill, Alana Boden, Evelyn Miller, Buck Braithwaite, Luke Fetherston, Hannah Dodd, and Kate Mulgrew.

Big Warning: there is hints of incest and a little bit of violence.

In this “episode,” Malcolm finds out about Corrine and Christopher and goes into a rage. He tries to kill Christopher. Corrine hits Malcolm with a vase and he releases Christopher. Olivia confronts Corrine that Christopher is her half-brother. But she says they are in love anyway. Corrine and Christopher run away. Olivia is convinced that if Malcolm is no longer there then Corrine will back home. So she slits Malcolm’s picture and makes the banister loose so Malcolm will fall to his death. But he doesn’t die, but he can’t talk or walk. She becomes his nurse and invites her uncle to stay. But her uncle wants to rape her so she stabs him. Olivia takes over the house and Malcolm’s company. Corrine and Christopher have four children. Christopher gets killed in a car wreck on his birthday and Corrine ends up coming back home. Hence the start of Flowers in the Attic.

I liked this “episode.” Next week I’m watching The Forever Purge.

Heaven to Wudang Jorney to Wudang Book 3

I finished reading Heaven to Wudang Journey to Wudang Book 3 by Kylie Chan. This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series. She has written 10 books of the books series. She is writing a new book series and it will be out soon. She also written a dragon book series that I would to read.

Big Warning: there is some violence and some sad parts.

In this book, Emma keeps getting feelings and short visions of impending doom. But she and the others don’t know exactly what the doom is. They think there will be hundreds of demons outside of the Academy. They discuss who will help bring John back. Leo tries to volunteer, but they end up picking two generals instead. So one of the generals brings back John. John tells them that there are fake students in the academy who will explode if they know everyone knows. In the end, they lose a lot of students. Then Emma’s nephews go missing. They raided every research building that “Kitty Kwok” was at. Emma thought her nephews were at one building and let her be taken. She was given more demon essence and her memory wiped. But she had been wrong her nephews wasn’t there. The police found out the passport was fake and she almost went to prison until a police officer that used to haunt her saved her. John restored some of her memory, but the Jade Emperor restored her memory. They found out where Kitty’s hideout was. They found Emma’s nephews and Michael’s girlfriend (who was thought dead). They were tortured badly. Simone also gets poisoned and John helps her by slicing off his arm.  Then Emma’s parents and sisters decide to change their name and go into hiding. She won’t be able to see her parents again. Then Simone goes missing. They find her and she was drugged.  Emma gets radiation poisoning. They take Kitty to see the Demon King as promised. They lead her to the jade cage. This is where they find out Kitty was all along the Demon King. (plot twist which I sorta guessed)  Emma almost died and John’s serpent appeared and healed Emma. Then Emma killed John and the demon king let her go. The Jade Emperor thought maybe the Demon King had put something inside her to change her somehow. Emma lets them see if he did. And he did. John got rid of the thing that made her less fearful and has a death wish.  But now the Demon King is torturing John’s serpent.

I loved this book. Now I reading Dark Serpent by Kylie Chan. It is the next book in the martial arts fantasy book series.

Flowers in the Attic: The Origin: The Murderer

I watched part 3 of Flowers in The Attic: The Origin: The Murderer.

Big Warning: there is some hints of incest.

In this “episode,” Alicia does show up at the Foxworth Hall to tell them she has cancer. She tells them that she wants them to take care of Christopher when she passes. They agree and they tell Corrine that Christopher is her uncle. But in reality, they are half brother and sister. Joel is found out by Malcolm and Malcolm sends him to a hospital to convert him to be normal in exchange that Harry be freed from jail. At the hospital, they use shock therapy. Olivia comes to her senses and rescues him. Joel gets disinherited and leaves with Harry. When Corrine and Christopher fall in love and they have sex on Malcom’s mother’s bed. Olivia sees them. Mrs. Steiner ends up working for the doctor and she finds out about Joel and Corrine’s birth records. She bribes them, but Olivia pushes her and she hit her head and dies. They bury her.

I sorta liked this “episode.” Next week I’m watching the last part: Flowers in The Attic: The Origin: The Martyr.
