Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

I watched Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. I taped it when it was on HBO. It has Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep (love her), Lily James, Cher (love her), Andy Garcia, Dominic Cooper, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Alexa Davies, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård in it.

Big Warning: This is sad and happy movie.

In this movie, Sophie fixes the hotel up and opens it to the public. She wants to host a huge party, but weather gets in the way at first. Her mother though is dead. Her three dad do shop up and her grandmother. She also finds out who her grandfather is too. She discovers she is pregnant during the party too.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching The Art of Racing in The Rain. Yes, that’s the book I’m listening to.

The Hobbit

I finished reading The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is the first book (or prequel) of the Middle Earth book series. I did see all three movies that were based on the book.

Big Warning: there is a lot of violence.

In the book, Gandalf The Gray goes to visit Bilbo. He tells him that he wants him to go on an adventure with him. Bilbo doesn’t want to go. Gandalf makes sure he goes by putting a secret sign on his door. Then 13 dwarves arrive with the hope that Bilbo will go with them on the adventure. The adventure is to take back their homeland and gold from the dragon. Bilbo doesn’t want to at first and then he agrees to go. On their journey, Bilbo finds the One Ring and has a riddle game with Gollum. Then when they do make it to the dragon, they end up releasing the dragon on Lake Town. Bard does kill the dragon. Bilbo does find and takes the Arkenstone.

Note: I don’t like the dwarves. Thorin says he is king, but he doesn’t act like it in the book. Bilbo is the one in charge when they get to the mountain.

The differences between the three movies and the book:

1. Bilbo finds the ring on the ground and Gollum isn’t around him when he finds it in the book.
2. There is no love interest between the elf and the dwarf in the book. Kili doesn’t get hurt.
3. Bard doesn’t help them into Lake Town. They are still in the barrels when they make it to Lake Town.
4. Like I said Thorin doesn’t take charge when they in the mountain in the book.
5. Bard is leader of the archers before he kills the dragon.
6. The orcs don’t chase them in the book. 

I did like this book. I’m listening next to The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. I’m waiting on The Silmarillion by J.R.R Tolkien. It’s on hold.

Mamma Mia!

I watched Mamma Mia! I had taped it when it was on HBO. I have seen this movie before I wanted to see it again before I watch the second one next week. It has Meryl Streep (love her), Pierce Brosnan (love him), Amanda Seyfried, Stellan Skarsgård, Colin Firth, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, and Dominic Cooper in it.

In this movie, a girl invites three men who maybe her biological father to her wedding. (I love this movie because I don’t know biological father is either. I know his name, but never met him)

Next week I’m watching Mamma Mia! Here we go again.

I Can Only Imagine

I watched I Can Only Imagine. I had taped it when it was on Epix. It has J. Michael Finley, Madeline Carroll, Dennis Quaid, Brody Rose, and Taegen Burns in it.

This is based on the true story of behind the song I Can Only Imagine. Of a boy who was abused to becoming a wonderful songwriter. I do love the song, but I do think the song was overplayed.

I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching Mamma Mia! (I have seen it before, but I want to see it again so I can see the sequel.)

The month of July

Happy July!!

Sunday was July Fourth!! Lily and other cats got some treats. I went over to my great-aunt’s. I ate some homemade ice cream.

Not much else going on this month. I may watch some shows on Netflix. Still going to be working on Chris’ diamond painting and reading. For his diamond painting, I will have to buy a new frame for it. The one I had planned on using might not look good and another one is too small.

Spotlight

I watched Spotlight. I had taped it when it was on Showtime, but I watched it on Netflix. It has Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton (love him), Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber (love him), John Slattery, and John Slattery.

This movie is based on the true events of Boston Globe who reported about the priest sex abuse cases. I had seen another movie about the priest sex abuse called Doubt. So I had been wanting to see this one too. It’s so sad. It’s crazy that some of the priests would think it’s ok to do it. I’m not catholic, but I do think the catholic church needs to get rid of being celibacy since it clearly doesn’t work and it’s not biblical.

Loved this movie. Next week I’m watching I Can Only Imagine.
