All About Steve

I watched All About Steve yesterday. I taped it when it was on Cinemax. It has Sandra Bullock, Thomas Haden Church, Bradley Cooper, Ken Jeong, DJ Qualls, M.C. Gainey, and Delaney Hamilton in it.

In this movie, a woman named Mary is a crossword creator. She goes on a blind date with guy named Steve. The date is short one because he is called into work. He tells her he wishes she could with him. She messes up by doing a crossword all about Steve and she loses her job. So she travels (or stalks) to be with Steve. She falls in a hole of an old mine and saves a deaf girl.

Even though it was a very silly movie, I did like it. Wednesday I’m watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Harrows Part 2. Since it’s my birthday next week I’m going to start a mystery movie marathon again. So Next week I’m watching Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver.

The Signal (2014)

I watched The Signal (2014) yesterday. I taped it when it was on HBO. It is on Netflix too. It has Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp, Laurence Fishburne (love him), and Patrick Davidson in it.

Big Warning: This is a Weird movie.

In, this movie, three friends are MIT students. They know someone hacked into the school’s servers. While taking his girlfriend to CA, Nic decides they should make a little detour to find out who the hacker is. They are led to a abandon house. The girlfriend stays behind in the car. Nic and Jonah go looking at the house. They don’t see anyone, then they hear a scream. They see Haley being risen up in the air. Then the screen goes black. Nic wakes up in a hospital bed. He finds out they are in some kind of research facility. The doctor tells him they contaminated by aliens. He also finds out Haley is in a coma. Jonah escapes. Nic get Haley to escape, but ends up finding out everything and nothing is what it seems.

Note: I had read an article saying they are actually in a computer and they are computer programs. I do agree with this theory than the alien world theory.

I loved this movie. Wednesday I’m going to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Harrows Part 1. I might be watching The Signal (2007) later this week. Next week I’m watching All About Steve.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I finished listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. This is the sixth book of the Harry Potter book series. There is seven books of the Harry Potter book series.

Big Warning: there is one sad, sad part.

Since most people have seen the movies and read the book, here’s a quick summary: Harry Potter gets a potion book that a person called Half Blood Prince used to own. The potion book has more than potions and Harry uses the book to score some nice potions in potions class. Harry also is asked by Dumbledore to attend some lessons with him. The lessons are memories about Tim Riddle who becomes Lord Voldemort. He learns a great deal about Tim Riddle’s past. He also spies on Draco who is up to no good. Harry also gets a memory repaired from the potion teacher. He later learns who the Half-Blood Prince is.

Differences between movie and book:

  1. There are more lessons Harry takes with Dumbledore in the book than in the movie.
  2. Harry is at his uncle’s house at the beginning of the book. In the movie he is at diner.
  3. Dumbledore tells Harry that he wants to teach him in a shed in the book, not at the school.
  4. Harry lands in the infirmary after a quitch match in the book.
  5. Ron doesn’t say Hermione’s name while in the infirmary in the book.
  6. Dumbledore’s funeral is in the book.

I did like this book.  I’m listening to next Harry Potter and the Deathly Harrows by J.K. Rowling. It is the last book of the Harry Potter book series.

Love Liza

I watched Love Liza yesterday. I taped it when it was on Cinemax. It has Philip Seymour Hoffman, J.D. Walsh, Kathy Bates, Erika Alexander, Sarah Koskoff, David Lenthall, and Jack Kehler in it.

Big Warning: there are some disturbing scenes.

In this movie, a man named Wilson lost his wife to suicide. He goes into deep, deep depression. He loses his job and begins sniffing gasoline. (I realize now that he was doing that to be near her. He doesn’t say how she committed suicide, but I guess she used her car.) He finds a suicide node that his wife left him. He doesn’t bring himself to read the letter until the end of the movie. He also almost gets a new job, but loses the opportunity because of his addiction to gasoline. The letter says for him to find someone else to love and keep her in his heart.

At first I didn’t really like this movie. I do agree with someone on IMDB saying that hey should have had more about his wife’s life in the movie. Next week I’m watching The Signal (2014).
