More Flowers and other stuff

Lst week I decided to give away so cross-stitch kits that My mother and I will never do. My mother loved doing cross-stitch. But she is either too busy or complains about hurting too much to do it anymore. I don’t have a steady enough hand to thread a needle or keep it threaded.

Chris’s mother gave me latch hook kit one year. I never got around doing it. I was going to give it away, but I decided to try it out last weekend. I will post a picture of it when I get through. I did mess up though it called for dark brown and I put the brown in some spots. It’s called A Country Road.

Here is a picture of one of the snapdragons.

Paradise Lost

I finished listening to Paradise Lost by John Milton. I didn’t know it was a poem until I started listening to it. I wanted to read it because I had read His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. The Golden Compass talks about Paradise Lost.  Also, I found while listening to this that the club in the Shadowhunters books called Pandemonium is also in Paradise Lost.

Paradise Lost is about the fall of Man. Satan falls from Heaven and God makes the Earth. God also makes Adam and Eve. Eve has a dream about Satan deceives her, but Satan deceives her anyway. Satan is not well liked after this and he learns about God’s back up plan. Then before God sends them out of Eden, Michael tells Adam the future.

It was a little hard to listen to because of the flowery words, but I really liked the poem. Now I’m reading Paradise Regained by John Milton.

The Mark

I finished listening to The Mark by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B Jenkins. It is the 8th book of the Left Behind series. There are 13 books in the series.

Warning: there are several sad parts.

This book is terrible and sad. Not terrible as in writing, etc. But terrible as in how people in the book really believe that Nicolae is God. It’s sad how people act in the book. The Mark is about the mark of the Anti-Christ. David’s secret girlfriend is killed at the “funeral” by lightening. David almost dies too. Nicolae orders guillotines to use on people who don’t take the mark. A few women refuse the mark. Nicolae also orders a pig to ride on when he goes to Jerusalem. Rayford and the others find a safe house and move in. One of the believers gets the mark of the Anti-Christ. (I think he will die in the next book.)

I really do like this series. Next I’m listening to Paradise Lost by John Milton.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest

To continue my Pirates marathon, I watched Dead Man’s Chest. I’m watching the series again because I can’t remember how William Turner got cursed. The movie has Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Bill Nighy, Jonathan Pryce, and Stellan Skarsgård.

Warning: there is some violence.

In this movie, William Turner and Elizabeth are arrested. In order to be free, William has to go to Jack Sparrow to get his compass. Jack makes an offer to William too. To find a key and a chest. The key and chest belong to Davy Jones. William gets to see his father. In the end, Jack “dies” and they lost Davy Jones’ heart. They pledge to find Jack Sparrow.

I forgot they lose the heart. Next week I’m watching Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

The Indwelling

Yesterday I finished listening to The Indwelling by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B Jenkins. It is the 7th book of the Left Behind book series. There are 13 books in the series.

Warning: there is one sad part.

The Indwelling is about an Indwelling. Lol  In this book, Rayford is on the run because he thinks he has killed Nicolae.  Nicolae does die.  But much later on Rayford learns that he didn’t kill him. But he is a scapegoat anyway. They make it look like he kills him. They didn’t think a stroke victim could kill. But the stroke victim wasn’t really frail. Buck goes searching for his friend. When he finds him, they both get on a plane with one tire. The plane crashes and the pilot dies. (I don’t like he dies. I think he should have lived.) The secret safe house gets known by the GC. Rayford and the others race there to get stuff out before GC gets there. Nicolae comes back from the dead within three days. He says he is God. (He’s not of course.)

I did like this book. I really like the guy narrating the books. Now I’m listening to The Mark by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B Jenkins. It’s the 8th book of the Left Behind series.

You can get The Indwelling at Wordery.com, Kobo.com, and Downpour.com.

Troy

After reading The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry, I wanted to watch Troy again. I never read The Iliad. I was actually confused what the Iliad was about. My mother refreshed my memory with it. Since Troy is based on the Illiad, I decided to watch it while Chris was here. It has Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Diane Kruger in it. Big Warning: there is lots of violence (of course since it’s about a war) and one sad part. Troy is about the war between the Greeks and Troy. It actually started because Paris was in love

Warning: there is lots of violence (of course since it’s about a war) and one sad part. Troy is about the war between the Greeks and Troy. It actually started because Paris was in love

Troy is about the war between the Greeks and Troy. It actually started because Paris was in love with Helen who was married to a king. Paris decides to kidnap Helen and make her Helen of Troy. The king not only wants Helen back but also have Troy for himself.

The Charlemagne Pursuit

I finished listened to The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry. This is the fourth book of the Cotton Malone book series. There are 12 books in the book series.

This book deals with Charlemagne, Cotton’s father, and an unknown society of people.  In Charlemagne Pursuit, Cotton finally finds out what happened to his father. The Navy says his submarine sunk in the ocean. Cotton didn’t really believe that. So he asked his former boss for the file on his father. That started events that led him back into trouble. The file said his father went to Antarctica. It was a secret mission. On a quest, Cotton and some others found out about an unknown society of people that taught others about modern type of things. (not aliens thank goodness. ) In the end, he found his father and got to finally bury him in a proper grave.

I really liked this book. I’m glad to find out what to happened to Cotton’s father. Now I’m listening to The Indwelling by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B Jenkins.

Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales

Chris did come down this past weekend. We did see the movie on Saturday. It does have a scene at the credits.

In this fifth movie, Henry Turner tells his dad William Turner that he will find the Trident of Poseidon so he can break his curse. Later on, he also searches for Jack Sparrow for help to find it. A woman who is accused of being a witch (she’s not) also helps in the quest.

This was a great movie. My mother was saying she heard it was the last movie. But I wasn’t convinced after seeing it so I looked up to see if there will be a 6th movie and there will be one coming out in a few years.

The Venetian Betrayal

I finished reading yesterday The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry. It is the third book of the Cotton Malone book series. There are 12 books in the series.

Warning: there is some violence.

The past two books I read of Steve Berry’s dealt with the Bible. This one deals with Alexander The Great,   the Iliad,  and HIV. Yes, a weird combination. In Venetian Betrayal, Cotton is forced back into trouble. He is asked by  Cassiopeia Vitt to a museum. The museum, though, is set ablaze with a special type of fire. He barely escapes alive.  Cassiopeia Vitt tells him that she and a special friend of hers are on the quest to find Alexander The Great’s  grave and to stop another woman from finding it and causing a huge war. That other woman is obsessed with The Iliad and Alexander The Great. One of her associates has found a cure for every disease, especially HIV. It is learned that Cassiopeia Vitt has HIV. Cotton and others do find Alexander The Great’s grave and the cure.  Cassiopeia Vitt and her friend drink the cure.

I really liked this book. I do wish that cure wasn’t fictional though. Now I’m listening to  The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry.

You can find The Venetian Betrayal at Wordery.com, Kobo.com, and Downpour.com.
