Beauty and the Beast remake

I watched Beauty and the Beast remake that was made in 2017. It has Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline,
Hattie Morahan, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, and Nathan Mack in it.

I didn’t know that they made a “live action” remake. I thought maybe I had seen it, but I hadn’t. I actually thought it was well made. The original was one of my favorite Disney movies. There was three parts they didn’t add in. One was where she was sitting at the fountain singing about the book she was reading and a cute sheep eats a page of the book. The other part was when the Beast lets Belle see her father in the mirror. Her father is sick and she tells the Beast she needs to leave. When she packs up her things, Chip is stowaway in her bag. The last part they didn’t add in was when the Beast lets Belle go, he doesn’t roar. He sings instead. The song was ok.

YMS says he didn’t like Beauty and the Beast when he was younger so he didn’t see the remake. So there is no YMS video.

I really liked this movie. Next week I’m watching the Dumbo remake.

Silver Return to Treasure Island

I finished listening to Silver Return to Treasure Island by Andrew Motion.

Big Warning: there is some violence and several sad parts. Cliffhanger ending.  Spoiler Below.

In this book, Jim Hawkins has a son named Jim Hawkins Jr. The son hears all about treasure island from his dad. His dad owns an inn. His mother died in child birth. One night Jim Jr. sees a boat come ashore. He goes to see who it is. It’s a girl named Natty.  She tells him that her father has requested Jim to come with her to see her father. Her father is Long John Silver. He also requested for Jim to steal the map from his dad. He goes to meet him and finds out Long John Silver is in bad shape. Long John Silver wants him and Natty to go back to treasure island to get the silver that was left on the island. He already made arrangements and decided Jim and Natty should hide who they are from the rest of the crew. Jim does steal the map and goes with Natty to Treasure Island. Once there, they find out the pirates that were left there were still alive and there was another ship there on island. That ship had crashed there. On that ship were slaves which were mistreated by the pirates. Jim and Natty rescues one slave which was in a pit. The slave talks about snakes on the island which becomes a plan of attack later on. Natty and the Scotland, the slave, go to the pirate camp alone. They get captured by the pirates. The pirates try to kill Natty by throwing her into a valley of bones, but she lives and she finds where the silver is hidden. Meanwhile the captain and Jim get the snakes and decide to save Natty and the slaves. But in the fight, the captain is killed. Jim ends up being in charge. They do free the slaves and they fight the pirates. Natty shows up and she kills one of the pirates. Scotland releases the snakes on the pirates. They get the silver and try to head back to England. But they go into a hurricane. They go back past Treasure Island and land into Spanish America.

I loved this book. I’m reading next The New World by Andrew Motion. It is the sequel to this book.

The Last Kingdom

I finished listening to The Last Kingdom by Steve Berry. This is the Seventeen book of the Cotton Malone book series.

In this book, Cotton Malone is asked by Luke Daniels to help him with a job. He is in Bavaria. The job is to distract some “tourists” that are looking for something in King Ludwig II’s study. It is a book that they are after. After Cotton distracts them, he thought he was through. But then he is pushed into a spy war. He also learns that Luke is working for the CIA. The Chinese and some German people are hunting for a deed that King Ludwig had. Cotton ends up finding the deed and tears it up in front of them.

I loved this book.

Aladdin 2019 remake

I watched Aladdin the 2019 remake. It has Will Smith, Mena Massoud,
Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Jordan A. Nash, Billy Magnussen, and Amir Boutrous in it.

I actually liked this remake. I think Will Smith was a good choice as Genie. But as YMS says in the video below, there wasn’t much chemistry in the movie. But I disagree the music sounded fine even if it was autotuned. The music was better than the remake of The Lion King.

The Lion King 2019 remake

I watched The Lion King (“live action” remake). It has Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, James Earl Jones, John Kani, Alfre Woodard, JD McCrary, and Shahadi Wright Joseph in it.

I knew they were doing a remake of The Lion King, but I didn’t want to see it in theaters when it came out. Then last week I read a blog post about how the person didn’t like the movie and she had post a video about a guy who also hates the movie. I got curious and decided to see the movie. I also watched the video. I will post the video below. I do agree with them about some of the music and some of script.

Treasure Island!!! (book)

I finished listening to Treasure Island!!! By Sara Levine.

Big Warning: This is a terrible book. I thought it was supposed to be funny, but I didn’t find it funny. There is some animal neglected and a animal being killed. No, I don’t recommend this book. Here’s a short summary anyway.

In this book, a 25 year old woman gets a job at an animal library. It’s an animal store where people rent out animals.  Her sister had borrowed from the library the book Treasure Island. She decides to “borrow” the book. She ends up being obsessed with the book so much that she wants clothes like the characters, neglects the animals at the animal library (saying she is being bold), steals money from her boss to buy a parrot (because of the book) which she instantly hates. She neglects the parrot and ends up killing the innocent bird. She causes her boyfriend to dump her and she stabs her sister’s hand.

I didn’t like this book. Now I’m listening to Silver Return to Treasure Island by Andrew Motion.

Free Guy

I watched Free Guy. I had been wanting to see this movie since it came out. It has
Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar,
Channing Tatum, Aaron W Reed, Lil Rel Howery, and Britne Oldford in it.

Big Warning: there is lots of violence. (Of course because it’s about an online video game.)

In this movie, a guy named Guy wakes up every morning and goes to work in a bank. The bank always gets robbed by people in sunglasses. They are allowed to talk to people in sunglasses. Guy tells his best friend who is his co-worker that he wants to get married someday. Then a woman walks past them. She wear sunglasses. Guy is instantly in love with her. She is on a mission to find a video chip that will expose the maker of the video game of stealing code for her and her friend. Guy who is supposed to be a background player gets the nerve to steal sunglasses off a bank robber. He is for a surprise of seeing things that aren’t there before. He goes after the woman in sunglasses and he decides to help her steal the chip. He levels up by doing good deeds which impresses the players of the game. The woman’s friend figures out that Guy is actually an AI. Guy steals the chip for Millie and he also escapes the madness destruction of the video game. Millie and her friend gets the rights back of their old game that they made together.

This was an awesome movie. I loved, loved it. Next week I’m watching the live remake of The Lion King.
