Animal Treasure Island

I watched Animal Treasure Island. It’s another anime. This was made in 1971. It has Minori Matsushima, Fusako Amachi, Asao Koike, Kôsei Tomita, Hitoshi Takagi, Nishikibito Tamura, Corinne Orr, Ray Owens, and Billie Lou Watt in it.

In this movie, there were some differences between the book and movie. Of course, a big one was the sailors were animals. Billy Bones had one leg and he was a cat. Jim was a boy and had a mouse as a friend. He also had a baby brother. Captain Silver was a pig. He wasn’t friendly. When Jim was caught at one point, he was thrown in a cell with a girl named Kathy who was the granddaughter of Captain Flint. She and Jim protect the treasure map. A walrus befriends Jim’s baby brother and protects him. In the end they do find the treasure and sail off into the sunset.

I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Treasure Planet 1982.

The Visit

I watched The Visit. I wanted to celebrate that I had seen all of the show Servant by watching a M Night Shyamalan movie. I thought I hadn’t seen this movie, but I guess I had. It has Olivia DeJonge, Deanna Dunagan, Peter McRobbie, and Kathryn Hahn in it.

In this movie, two kids named Becca and Tyler go to their grandparent’s house for a few days. They have never met their grandparents. They end up finding the grandparents weren’t their grandparents.

I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Animal Treasure Island.

Mexican Gothic

I finished reading Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.  I have been wanting to read this book because a lot of book bloggers had talked about.

Big Warning: there is some gross parts, talk about incest, and some violence.

Before I begin my summary, I need to talk about my theories. It talked about TB and mold. I had looked up info about TB (when I was thinking about looking up about TB, my mother had mentioned about TB to her co-worker. Also after I looked up about TB, a few days later I saw an article about TB. Lol). I was thinking this was a vampire book (it is in a way). Then I was thinking about the book/miniseries Rose Red by Stephen King. But I was completely wrong in my theories.  No spoilers this time.

In this book a girl named Noemi who is asked by her father to check on her cousin. Her cousin had written a disturbing letter that worried Noemi’s father. She goes and discovers the horrible secrets of her cousin’s new husband.

I loved this book. Now I’m going to listen to Beacon 23 by Hugh Howey.

Pirates of Treasure Island

I watched Pirates of Treasure Island. I watched it on Pluto TV. It has Lance Henriksen, Rebekah Kochan, Tom Nagel, Jeff Denton, James Ferris, Justin Jones, Chriss Anglin, Leigh Scott, David Shick, and Dean N. Arevalo in it.

This movie doesn’t go by the book. On Treasure Island, there are huge flying bugs. Jim Hawkins is older. He has a barmaid who supposedly doesn’t pirates, but it is later found out she is Anne Bonney (which is so cool). Jim overhears Long John Silver talk to the crew and Anne saves his butt. So he becomes a pirate. When they get on the island, the doctor and many others gets killed. Ben Gunn does lead them to a chest of some treasure in a pyramid temple of those flying huge bugs. In the temple, they found out there is a second treasure map. Jim kills Long John Silver. He, Anne Bonney, and other women sail over to get the other treasure.

I actually liked this movie, even though it didn’t go by the book. Next week I’m watching The Visit.

Jubilee

I finished listening to Jubilee by Jennifer Givhan. She also wrote River Woman River Demon and Trinity Sight. I read both of those books. She’s also a poet.

In this book, a woman named Bianca  had been dating a terrible guy since she was really young.  She got pregnant at 14 and his parents decided she should get abortion. Then the terrible guy cheats on her with another girl and get her pregnant. The other girl is allowed to keep her kid. Bianca and the terrible guy get back together. Bianca can’t get over the abortion. Then the terrible guy rapes her and she gets pregnant again. The terrible guy gets in argument with her and she causes a car accident which landed them both in a canal. They got on dry ground and the terrible guy noticed she was bleeding. Her baby had no heart beat and she had to give birth to a still born. She tried to kill herself, but couldn’t do it. Then she saw a doll she had bought and that  doll became her “baby” she named Jubilee. A little bit later she met a great guy who treated her great even though she had big mental problems. She got pregnant again and they got married. He was trying to adopt his nephew. They four went on a vacation. Bianca and the great guy almost drown trying to save the doll she thought was real. In the end, she got better after she let Jubilee go and had her daughter.

I liked this book. It’s hard to read and it reminded me of my best friend. She had gotten pregnant and her boyfriend cheated on her and got another girl pregnant and he left her.  Now I’m reading Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

The Month of November

Happy November!!

November 1st was my aunt’s birthday!! I gave the cats treats and listened to music to celebrate.

November 8th The Buccaneers comes on.

November 12th Beacon 23 is supposed to come on!! I can’t wait. I am going to listen to the book of it soon.

November 14th A murder at the End of The World comes on.

November 23th is Thanksgiving!! I am giving the cats treats to celebrate.

November 24th is Black Friday!! I am giving the cats treats to celebrate and I will be giving them a early Christmas gift too.

Treasure Island 1986

I watched Treasure Island 1986. It was a Spanish movie made by Raul Ruiz. It has
Vic Tayback, Martin Landau, Jean-Pierre Léaud, Anna Karina, Sheila, Lou Castel, Jean-François Stévenin, Yves Afonso, Jeffrey Kime, Pedro Armendáriz Jr., Charles Schmitt, and Melvil Poupaud.

Big Warning: I Do Not Recommend This Movie. It has bad acting and it Did Not make any sense.

It was like he had threw stuff at the wall to see what would stick. The ending was sad. And there was No Treasure. It is a terrible movie. Do Not See This Movie.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines

Last Tuesday was Halloween so I decided to watch Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. I have read Pet Sematary and seen both versions of the movie. I wanted to see this because I wanted to see if it told more about the burial ground, but it didn’t exactly. This movie has Jackson White, Natalie Alyn Lind, Forrest Goodluck, Isabella LaBlanc, Henry Thomas, Jack Mulhern, David Duchovny, and Samantha Mathis in it.

This movie is a prequel to Pet Sematary. Jud is young and he has a girlfriend named Norma (his wife in Pet Sematary). Jud’s friend Timmy had died in the war, but Timmy’s father buried in the burial ground. Of course he came back. Timmy was determined to kill the founding families of the first settlers of Ludlow, Maine. He brings back Manny’s sister. They end up having to kill her again (that’s the sad part). Instead of leaving Jud and Norma stay in Ludlow to look after the town.

I liked this movie.

Trinity Sight

I finished listening to Trinity Sight by Jennifer Givhan. She also wrote River Woman River Demon which I read a few months ago.

Before I begin this summary, I need to say I was wrong about the theory of this book. Even though I was wrong, it’s still an awesome, awesome book. I didn’t want it to end.  My theory was that it’s an apocalyptic book, but it’s not.

In this book, a pregnant woman named  Calliope Santiago gets in a car wreck when a strange light appears in the sky. She is an anthropologist. She is married and has a son named Phoenix. She tries to go home and finds no one there. She freaks out. Then the neighbor’s little girl comes to her door and tells her that her parents are gone too. The little girl says she didn’t see the light flash, but she felt an earthquake before everyone disappeared. Calliope decides to take the little girl with her to see if her parents are with her husband and her son are together somewhere. They go to her friend’s house. Her friend is there, but her friend kills herself. Then volcanoes erupt and they run into some more strange people and one woman named Amy who joins them. Then a man named Chase joins their group. They decide to see if Calliope’s son is with her aunt. But they find Mara who is the aunt’s friend. Mara joins the group. They end up getting answers at an Indian reservation. The group does go home.

I loved this book. I’m listening to next Jubilee by Jennifer Givhan.

Renfield

I did watch Renfield. My mother and I watch it on Amazon Prime. She had been wanting to see the movie. It has Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage (love him), Awkwafina, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Ben Schwartz, Camille Chen, and Rhonda Johnson Dents in it.

In this movie, Renfield is Dracula’s servant. He brings him people to feed on and fiends off priests that want to kill Dracula. Over the years, he gets sorta tired of it. He joins a support group and learns how to stand up to his boss. The problem with this plan is that Dracula gets mad and wants to kill everyone. Dracula teams up with a powerful gang. But in the end, Dracula gets killed by a smart cop and Renfield.

I sorta liked this movie.
