Ready Player Two

I finished listening to Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. It is the sequel to Ready Player One. I had read that they are making a second movie. I also read that Ernest Cline is writing a third book which is supposed to be a prequel of the life of the founders of Oasis.

Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, Wade and the others do take over the Oasis business. While being CEO he discover new writing on the Easter egg that he won. The new writing leads him to a secret room with another Easter egg which has a secret headset which Holliday made and says his heir has the choice to reveal to the world or not. The new headset connects to your brain and makes you have new experiences within the Oasis program. The problem is that if you go beyond 12 hours you will have severe brain damage and die. Wade tells the others about it. Samantha is not thrilled with the new headset. (I agreed with her, but when I got to the end of the book I did change my mind like she does. ) But she is outnumbered and the new headsets go on the market. Also with the new headset is another contest for Halliday’s heir. It is the find seven shards to make the siren whole. The siren is Mr. Morrow’s wife. Wade gets stuck on the first clue. Then a girl helps with the clue. Then suddenly someone appears. It’s Halliday’s avatar which is an AI. He is crazy and threatens Wade to complete the contest because he has everyone hostage.  Wade does find all seven shards, but he has a plan to kill Halliday’s AI. But Mr. Morrow dies in the process. Wade decides to make the siren whole and brings back Mr. Morrow’s wife and Mr. Morrow. He also makes copies of people too. He sends the copies into space to find a new planet.

I liked this book. Now back to Narnia with The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis.
