The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

I watched The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I am still reading the book. I just really wanted to see the movie. It has Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Viola Davis, Dexter Sol Ansell, Rosa Gotzler, Fionnula Flanagan, Lilly Maria Cooper, Aamer Husain, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Rivera in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence. Spoiler Below.

In this movie, President Snow is a teenager. He lives with his grandmother and his cousin in the Capital. He’s poor, but they manage. At school, they assign him to be a mentor to the 10th Hunger Games. He is assigned to a girl named Lucy Gray Baird. She is from District 12 (the same District as Katniss). She is also a singer. She impresses everyone at the Reaping. To impress her, he goes to meet her at the train station. He gets in the train with the tributes which most want to kill him. He ends up in a monkey cage with them. He gets written up for that act. He wants them to be fed. But sadly one of his classmates teases the tribute she is assigned to and that tribute slits her throat with a bottle. (In the book, it was a knife) The Peacekeepers kill that tribute. Even though they have one down, they go on with the Hunger Games. He is asked to make a proposal of what would get the Capital people watching the Hunger Games. His ideas happen, but the drones do a bad job in the arena. But he does use it to help Lucy. He cheated in the games by giving a poison in powder and made snakes not harm Lucy. Lucy ends up winning the games. But since he cheated, he is sent to be a Peacekeeper. He bribes so he could be sent to District 12. He sends his friend to die and he had fell in love with Lucy, but Lucy leaves him.

I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Sleeping Beauty. (This one is made in 2014.)
