The Sleeping Beauty

I watched The Sleeping Beauty. I watched it on Tubi. It is a French movie with subtitles. It has Carla Besnaïnou, Julia Artamonov, Kerian Mayan, David Chausse, and Anne-Lise Kedvès.

Big Warning: This is a confusing movie at first until I looked up what is really about. This mixes two fairy tale stories.

It begins with Anastasia as a baby. A witch casts a spell on her saying at 16 she will prink her finger and die. Three fairies change the spell which she will fall asleep at age six and stay asleep for 100 years. In dream land, she meets a mother and her son. The son’s name is Peter. Peter gets kidnapped by the Snow Queen (yes the other fairy tale). Anastasia goes looking for him. She meets an albino King and queen and then she meets a thief who takes her Leland. But she doesn’t make it to save Peter. Then she wakes up and she’s 16. She meets Peter’s grandson. They have sex and she’s pregnant.

I sorta liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Bluebeard. It’s another fairy tale French movie.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

I watched Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Yes, I have had seen the first one. I actually saw the first one with my mother when it came out. I watched the first one again because I couldn’t remember some of it. This movie has Angelina Jolie (love her), Elle Fanning, Harris Dickinson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sam Riley, Chiwetel Ejiofor,
Ed Skrein, and Robert Lindsay.

Big Warning: there is some violence. Spoiler Below.

In this movie, Prince Philip asks Aurora to marry him and she says yes. Maleficent doesn’t like this, but ends up getting caught up in because Prince Philip’s mother asks for her to come to dinner to celebrate. But his mother has other plans. She wants to get rid of her husband and take over the magical moor. She puts asleep her husband with a spindle and blame the spell on Maleficent. Maleficent gets hurt while leaving and taken to a magical place in the sky. She finds out who she is and that there is more like her. The other dark fairies want war against the humans. They do go to war. Prince Philip’s mother also asks all the magical beings from the moor to the wedding just to try to kill them. Aurora figures out what really happened and she tries to save all the magical beings. In the end, Maleficent saves everyone and takes down the evil queen. Prince Philip and Aurora marry and they live in peace with the magical creatures and the dark fairies.

I loved this movie. I found out there will be a third movie. Next week I’m watching another sleeping beauty movie.

Sleeping Beauty

I watched another Sleeping Beauty movie. This one was in 2014. I watched it on Peacock. It has Grace Van Dien, Finn Jones, Catherine Oxenberg, Casper Van Dien, Olivia d’Abo, Edward Lewis French, and Gil Kolirin in it.

Big Warning: There is violence, and bad acting. Spoiler below.

In this movie, a princess named Dawn. Her parents threw a party when she was born. An evil queen came and put a spell on her that she would die on her sixteen birthday when she pricked her finger. One good witch made the spell so Dawn would just fall asleep. On Dawn’s sixteenth birthday is asked by a boy to somewhere private and he gives her a spindle needle. Of course she pricks her finger and the whole kingdom falls asleep. The evil queen was that boy. Many years pass and a whipping boy finds a map to Dawn’s castle. The prince of that land wants Dawn’s kingdom for himself. So they go in search of the castle and treasure. They encounter a sea dragon and zombies. The prince ends up being killed by the evil queen because he tried to kiss Dawn (to wake her up). Dawn doesn’t wake up because he doesn’t have a pure heart. The whipping boy is killed too and becomes a zombie, but he kisses Dawn who wakes up and they take back the kingdom. They have a little girl and the evil queen shows up again.

Even though there was some bad acting, I liked the movie. Next week I’m watching Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. (Yes, I have seen the first movie.)

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

I watched The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I am still reading the book. I just really wanted to see the movie. It has Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Viola Davis, Dexter Sol Ansell, Rosa Gotzler, Fionnula Flanagan, Lilly Maria Cooper, Aamer Husain, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Rivera in it.

Big Warning: there is some violence. Spoiler Below.

In this movie, President Snow is a teenager. He lives with his grandmother and his cousin in the Capital. He’s poor, but they manage. At school, they assign him to be a mentor to the 10th Hunger Games. He is assigned to a girl named Lucy Gray Baird. She is from District 12 (the same District as Katniss). She is also a singer. She impresses everyone at the Reaping. To impress her, he goes to meet her at the train station. He gets in the train with the tributes which most want to kill him. He ends up in a monkey cage with them. He gets written up for that act. He wants them to be fed. But sadly one of his classmates teases the tribute she is assigned to and that tribute slits her throat with a bottle. (In the book, it was a knife) The Peacekeepers kill that tribute. Even though they have one down, they go on with the Hunger Games. He is asked to make a proposal of what would get the Capital people watching the Hunger Games. His ideas happen, but the drones do a bad job in the arena. But he does use it to help Lucy. He cheated in the games by giving a poison in powder and made snakes not harm Lucy. Lucy ends up winning the games. But since he cheated, he is sent to be a Peacekeeper. He bribes so he could be sent to District 12. He sends his friend to die and he had fell in love with Lucy, but Lucy leaves him.

I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Sleeping Beauty. (This one is made in 2014.)
