The Flowers in the Attic: The Origin: The Marriage

I watched the first “episode” of the Flowers in the Attic: The Origin: The Marriage. It is based on Garden of Shadows which was written by Andrew Neiderman who is the ghostwriter of V.C. Andrews. Yes, I have read that book, but it’s been awhile since I read it. It has Jemima Rooper, Max Irons, T’Shan Williams, Peter Bramhill, Alana Boden, Kelsey Grammer, and Kate Mulgrew.

Big Warning: there is some rape and incest in this and some violence.

In this first episode, Olivia is co-owners of a business with her father. Her father wants her to meet a man who they will have business with. His name is Malcolm Foxworth. Olivia ends up falling in love with him. Then she later ends up marrying him. Malcolm rapes her in his mother’s bed. (There is a reason for this. His mother would sexually abuse him in her bed.) She has two sons. But Malcolm wants a girl. Olivia finds out she can’t have any more kids. Then Malcolm’s father arrives with a pregnant wife. After his new stepmother has her son, Malcolm rapes her in his mother’s bed. Malcolm’s father has a heart attack. Malcolm’s stepmother is pregnant. Olivia stands up to Malcolm and tells him that she will pass off the kid as her own.

I sorta liked this episode. Next week I’m watching the next episode The Mother.

The Ruby Landry movies

Instead of doing separate posts for all four movies, I am doing a short summary for each of them. I watched them a few weeks ago. I haven’t read the books. They are written by Andrew Neiderman who is writing under the name V.C. Andrews. The movies have: Raechelle Banno, Gil Bellows, Karina Banno, Sam Duke, Ty Wood, Mason Temple, Crystal Fox, Bob Frazer, and Naomi Judd in it.

Big Warning: there is some sad parts and hints of incest.

RUBY
In this movie Ruby Landry is love with Paul. Her grandmother is a voodoo healer. Her grandmother is sick and she tells Ruby that Paul is her half brother. So Ruby tries to break up with Paul. Then her grandmother tells her who her father is and that she has a twin sister. When her grandmother dies, she goes to find her father and she lives with them. Ruby’s twin makes it hard to live with, so Ruby goes to a voodoo madam and does a curse on her twin. Her twin gets in a car accident and ends up in a wheelchair.

PEARL IN THE MIST
In this movie Mr. Dumas decides it would be best for the twins to go to a boarding school. Ruby makes friends with a girl, but it is short lived. Then she meets Louis who becomes her friend. Beau (Ruby’s boyfriend who was her twin’s boy toy) shows up and Ruby becomes pregnant. She gets kicked out of the school. She ends up going back home. She has the baby and names her Pearl.

ALL THAT GLITTERS
In this movie, Paul shows up again and they get married. Ruby gets word that her father had died so she goes to the funeral. She finds out her twin marries Beau. She also learns her stepmother is getting married to another man. Some time passes and then Ruby’s twin gets really sick. Ruby wants to be with Beau so they decide to switch identities of the twins. Ruby becomes her twin. Then Paul slowly declines. He thinks Giselle is actually Ruby. Then Paul dies. There is a custody battle that happens and in the end Ruby keeps Pearl.

HIDDEN JEWEL
In this movie, some time passes and Ruby has three kids. Two boys and Pearl. Pearl wants to be a doctor. She doesn’t believe in voodoo. One of Ruby’s boys gets bit by a snake and Beau falls and hits his head. Ruby goes to see who is behind the curse. In the end, they find out it was Paul’s mother who put the curse on Ruby. They do end the curse.

I sorta liked these movies.

V.C. Andrews’ Web of Dreams

I watched V.C. Andrews’ Web of Dreams yesterday. It based on the book by V.C. Andrews. No, I haven’t read the books. It has Jennifer Laporte, Max Lloyd-Jones, Cindy Busby, David Lewis, Tim Donadt, Liam Hughes, and Lizzie Boys in it.

Warning: there is rape.

In this movie, Annie goes back to the mansion after Troy dies. Rye Whiskey gives her Leigh’s diary (in the book according to wikipedia, Annie finds the diary in a back drawer in Jillian’s room). Annie reads the diary. Jillian divorces Leigh’s “father” (it sorts hints that perhaps Cleave is not her biological dad). Jillian was having an affair with a much younger Tony Tatterton. She ends up marrying him. Leigh doesn’t like it. She is sent to a private school. On her birthday, she is given a model doll which she had sat for with Tony. Tony asked Leigh to pose nude for the doll which lead her to be raped by Tony twice. She ended up pregnant and Jillian had nothing to do with her so Leigh ran away to discover her grandmother had died. She ends up meeting Luke Casteel which she marries and dies in childbirth. Annie finds a note from a private investigator who told Tony about the death of Leigh and birth of Heaven.

I sorta liked this movie. Since next week is Halloween week, I’m watching Vamps which is a comedy horror movie.

I watched Gates of Paradise yesterday. It is based on the Casteel book series by V.C Andrews. No, I haven’t read the books. It has Jason Priestley, Lizzie Boys, Johannah Newmarch, Jason Cermak, Pauline Egan, Michael Karl Richards, Ben Sullivan, and Keenan Tracey in it.

Warning: there is some disturbing scenes.

In this movie, Annie is grown up. She’s 18 years old. Heaven, Annie, and Logan go to Fanny’s (Heaven’s “sister”) 40th birthday party. They get in a car accident and Annie is crippled. Heaven and Logan are dead. Annie goes to live with Tony (Heaven’s biological dad). She quickly figures out the nurse and Tony are keeping her hostage at the manor. Luke, her “half-brother” comes to rescue her. She finds out through Troy (her biological dad) that Luke is not her half-brother which they can be together.

I did sorta liked this movie. I had read the wikipedia of the book and there were a few differences between the book and movie. Next week I’m watching Web of Dreams.

In this movie, Heaven gets in engaged to Logan and marries him. They decide to have the honeymoon at Tony’s manor. Tony (her biological father) tells them that he wants them to be presidents of a new toy company. They agree to doing it. Logan goes to see about the construction and Heaven stays there at the manor to be with her grandmother who is really sick. While there, Heaven finds out Troy is still alive and she sleeps with him one last time. When she goes back home, she finds out her step-sister is pregnant with her husband’s baby. Heaven is also pregnant with her uncle’s baby. Then Luke dies in car crash and Heaven ends up with custody of Luke’s son after paying her step-sister a million dollars.

In this movie, Heaven goes to live with her mother’s family, but she can’t contact her siblings while living there. She was not to go in the hedge maze which leads to a house. The house belongs to her step-grandfather’s brother. She and her step-grandfather’s brother have a steamy affair. They were to get married, but her step-grandfather drops a bombshell that he is actually her biological father so she is engaged to her uncle!! Her uncle commits suicide. Heaven graduates college and goes back home to be a teacher.

I sorta liked this movie. I did read the wikipedia of the book and there were some differences between the book and movie. Next week I’m watching Fallen Hearts.

V.C. Andrews’ Heaven (movie)

I watched V.C. Andrews’ Heaven yesterday. I taped it when it was on Lifetime. It is based on a book series by V.C. Andrews. No, I haven’t read the books. I have read the dollanganger book series. I just wasn’t interested in reading another book series by her.
