Defy Me

I finished reading Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi. It is the fifth book of the Shatter Me book series. Yes, I have read the other books in the book series.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, Everyone saw Juliette kill thousands of people because of her powers after she announce she was the supreme commander of America. Kenji was right there as it happened and saw Juliette fall, but then he was suddenly not beside her, and Juliette is gone. She was kidnapped and her killing people was an illusion. Meanwhile, Juliette and Warner are having painful memories of being together and apart. Juliette learns from her memories of her parents and her real name which is Ella. She remembers her sister too. Her parents are the ones who kidnap her and Warner. They are trying to release Ella’s memories again, but it does no good. She remembers everything anyway. She hears a faint voice telling her to escape and the word dying. She does escape and finds her sister and learns that her sister was giving everyone their memories back and the real reason their parents want to keep them alive. Ella kills her mother. Meanwhile, at the base, everyone learns about Ella through Nazeera. They hitch a plan to help Ella and Warner to escape. They do and Ella tells them that they need to kill her sister because her sister is barely alive anyway.

Here is a song that fits the book series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49tpIMDy9BE

I loved this book. I plan on reading the rest of the books in this book series soon.Ā  Now I’m read The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Restore Me

I finished reading Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi. Restore Me is the fourth book of The Shatter Me book series. I read the first three books. Like I said earlier I have written a story that is similar.

Warning: there is some violence and cliffhanger ending.

In this book, Juliette is made supreme commander after she killed Warner’s father. She fastly finds out that it is a tough job, and she is overwhelmed. But she is determined to have the job even though people told her Warner would be better suited for the job. Warner flatly refuses to take the job. When she meets one of the supreme commander’s daughter, she learns that Warner is keeping secrets. She finds out she has a sister and her parents are alive. She also finds out the Restablishment wants her back.

Even though I wrote a similar story, I really like this book series. There is a fifth book coming out next year. And I heard they are making a tv series of the show too. Here is a song that I think should a theme song for the book series:

Ignite Me

OverĀ the weekend, I finished reading Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi. It is the third and final book of the Shatter Me book series. She also wrote two novellas that are of Warner and Adam stories that takeĀ place between the books. I am not reading the novellas. At first, I didn’t like how Ignite Me was going, but then it got better. I did like the book.

Here is that song again that fits this book series so well:

Ignite Me takes place where Unravel Me left off. Juliette recovers from being shot by the supreme leader. Warner tells her that everyone from Omega Point is dead!! (this is why I didn’t like the book at first.) Then when Warner shows her where Omega Point was located at, Kenji shows up!! (this where I started liking the book again) Juliette goes with Kenji and finds out nine of the members of Omega Point are alive. Adam is alive!! But Adam goes crazy. Juliette tries to bridge the gap between Warner and her friends. Warner ends up being generous to them and agrees to help fight his father.Later Warner finds out Adam is his brother. Juliette ends up killing the supreme leader and becomes his replacement.

I’m waiting on the audiobook of Left Behind. I’m next in line for it so I will be reading it next.

Shatter Me

I think this song fits this book very nicely:

I found this song yesterday after a woman suggested this violin player on Mylot.

Some Ā background first of why I wanted to read Shatter Me: Many years ago I had a short nightmare of a girl walking down a street. She comes upon a car and she puts her hand on the back windshield and then blood appeared on the windshield. After I had the dream, I thought it might make a good story. I was itching to make it into a story.

So I got my chance a few years ago when I was taking creative writing for my paralegal degree. I also was “working” at a place for people who help people find jobs for disabled people. (they named us consumers, not employees) I often wrote the place as a mental institution.

My story was about a girl named Josie who can kill people with her hands. She was in a mental institution. I changed the ending of the story for it to be a ghost story.

Now to the book Shatter Me: Shatter Me is the first book of a book series by Tahereh Mafi. It is a mix of my story and the book 1984. Shatter me is about a girl named Juliette. She can kill people with not only her hands but also her body. She was sent to a mental institution. She doesn’t have any visitors until a boy showed up at her cell. She recognized the boy by his eyes. She went to school with him. She ends up getting freed from the mental institution. But the man who wanted her freed is a crazy psychopath. Her and the boy (Adam) run away and then ends up joining a movement of other people who have special abilities. I LOVED this book. I thought I wouldn’t since it’s similar to my story, but I really do like it. I’m reading next: I’m next in line for Angel and Demons by Dan Brown so I won’t be able to read the second book yet. So while I wait I’m going to go back reading Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott.
