I watched Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. I taped it when it was on HBO. It has Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep (love her), Lily James, Cher (love her), Andy Garcia, Dominic Cooper, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Alexa Davies, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård in it.
Big Warning: This is sad and happy movie.
In this movie, Sophie fixes the hotel up and opens it to the public. She wants to host a huge party, but weather gets in the way at first. Her mother though is dead. Her three dad do shop up and her grandmother. She also finds out who her grandfather is too. She discovers she is pregnant during the party too.
I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching The Art of Racing in The Rain. Yes, that’s the book I’m listening to.
I watched Yentl yesterday. I taped it when it was on HBO. I watched it on Pluto TV. It has Barbra Streisand, Mandy Patinkin, Amy Irving, Nehemiah Persoff, and Jack Lynn in it.
In this movie, a woman named Yentl wants to learn about everything, but women weren’t allowed to read books. Men can only read books and the Torah. Women were only allow picture books. (This is so sexist. I am so glad that we don’t live in those times anymore.) When her father dies, Yentl cuts her hair to be able to study like the men. (This reminds me of Mulan. Only this movie takes it a little bit too far.) Yentl meets a man who becomes her study buddy. Yentl’s lies becomes too much for her and she ends up telling him everything and she leaves to be able to study as woman overseas (I assume America).
I liked this movie. Next week I’m watching Flight.
Saturday I watched Hairspray Live. Yes, I know it’s not a Christmas musical, but it’s a musical. Anyway, it was really good. I had seen the original hairspray in movie form a few years ago. My mother was saying that it was great about how great they were doing it this year. I told her that yeah especially since it deals with issues we dealing with today. Body shaming, racism, etc.
Last night I went to our church’s Christmas cantata. My uncle led it, and he also had a mini concert with a pianist that used to play for our church. It was really good. The cantata was constructed of three churches that sung together. My mother didn’t get to come to see it. She hurt her knee.So I taped the whole thing for her with my “new” camcorder.
You can find Hairspray Live on Amazon.com.
