The Gravity Engine

I finished reading The Gravity Engine by Kylie Chan. It is a stand-alone book of the martial arts fantasy book series I just read.  This book is supposed to be read after Demon Child and before Black Jade.

Big Warning: there is some violence.

In this book, Michael is seeing Clarissa every day, but she wouldn’t talk to him. So the doctor told him not to see her as much and she will come around. He gets bored at work and his brother comes to say he can go out hunting with him. So he does with a small crew. They find an interesting cave that does have snake demons, but in the end, some of the fighters get killed and Michael is taken. The son of the Demon King wants Michael to make a pact with him to destroy the Demon King and the son will take over. Michael has no choice in agreeing to the pact. He is taken to the Western Heavens. He finds out the Demon King has his mother and Clarissa. (They are demon copies and poor Michael finds out the hard way that they are.)  The Demon Kings are using them as bait so Michael would make a blueprint of a gravity machine and also make the machine itself. The Gravity machine is supposed to help anyone that comes to Western Heavens to stay on the ground. Michael does make the blueprint. He tries to free the demon copies but ends up killing them instead. In shock and sadness, he kills himself and lands in Court Ten back at home. He didn’t make the machine. He tells the Jade Emperor and his father that he didn’t learn much. He didn’t tell them about the demon copies. He told them he didn’t have the blueprint and he was a failure. (IMO I think they should have looked into his memories to get what the blueprint looked like.) Then he sees Clarissa again and they are talking to each other again.

I sorta liked this book. Now I’m reading Scales of the Empire by Kylie Chan. It is the first book of a space dragon book series.

Black Scales White Fur

I finished reading Black Scales White Fur by Kylie Chan. This is a stand-alone book of her martial arts fantasy book series. I have read all of the martial arts book series.

In this book, a snake demon that is named One Three Seven is half-human. She made her human skin and ends up making human skins for the other snake demons. She even sees the Demon King. Although she almost dies when he has sex with her multiple times. She discovers she has a sister who can make human skins too. So she escapes and finds her dad who is Ronnie (the Demon King’s son). White tiger, John, Ronnie, and Simone try to protect her. But she ends up going back to the Demon King for awhile. He almost kills her again, but she ascends to be something better, a human.

At first, I didn’t like this book, but I ended up liking it. Now I’m reading The Gravity Engine by Kylie Chan. It is another stand-alone of the martial arts fantasy book series.

Black Jade

I finished reading Black Jade by Kylie Chan. This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series and the last book of that book series. She has written nine books of the books series. She is writing a new book for the series and it will be out soon. She also wrote a dragon book series that I would to read.

In this book, after the war ended. The demon King took over the Heavens. He killed all the Shen and imprisoned John in the jade cage again. Emma and her family were spared. Simone was spared too. But Emma’s nephew was killed by human soldiers that the Demon King controlled. The Demon King had made him into clones, but the clones were too aggressive so Emma’s sister agreed to have copies destroyed later on. Simone and Emma went to a safe place on Earthly to escape, but they had to get rid of their phones because of tracking. They found somewhere safe until the Demon King asked Emma to come to take Frankie, Emma’s son, to the Heavens so he can be taught how to be the Jade Emperor. While there Gold put BJ (Black Jade) in Emma so she can be able to talk to her family without the Demon King. It was later found out that BJ was working for the Demon King’s son!! Frankie becomes the Jade Emperor and everyone obeys him. Even Emma at some points. The Demon King was wanting to make Simone and Frankie marry. Emma tried to stop it from happening, but Simone wouldn’t talk to her. The Demon King also wanted to sacrifice himself to make John become different and destroy Frankie.  But Simone had other plans. She killed the Demon King and saved everyone.  The Jade Emperor came back to be on the throne. The Demon King’s son becomes the next Demon King. There was a new treaty and the heavens were rebuilt. But BJ (Black Jade) disappeared. In order to draw her out, Emma and John had their wedding (Finally). They had some encounters with some demon copies and they were destroyed. The wedding did bring Black Jade out, and Emma married Black Jade, but Emma realized and she called out to John and John took out the demon copy.  The real wedding happened. They all decided to live on Earthly since Simone couldn’t go to the Heavens.

I sorta liked this book. Now I’m reading a graphic novel called Small Shen by Kylie Chan. It’s the prequel to the martial arts book series.

Demon Child

I finished reading Demon Child by Kylie Chan.  This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series. She has written 10 books of the books series. She is writing a new book for the series and it will be out soon. She also written a dragon book series that I would to read.

Big Warning: there is some violence and gross parts.

In this book, John gets injured badly by the Demon King torturing the serpent. The Blue Dragon suggests putting him in another jade cage to see if it heals him. It works. They find out that Demon King wants to take over Hell. So they fight and John gets injured again. They also lose the battle and many lives are lost. The Demon King tries to make a deal with John, but they refuse it. So Demon King revises the treaty and wants Emma and John to come to get the new treaty. Everyone thinks that Emma will die during this meeting. But she doesn’t because her son saves her. (Yes I was right. She didn’t lose her baby in the previous book.)  John is injured again.  Emma finds out that their former housekeeper had died and she goes to her funeral and goes back to hell. The Demon King wants her to teach her son. So she does and she tries to find the serpent. Simone rescues her. They find the serpent. Simone gets badly injured so Emma gives her the Elixir and raises Simone. Then Emma frees the serpent by possessing the serpent.  Emma joins with John only so she can free from the serpent. So they take back Hell, but then Demon King wants to take down the Heavens too. So they win the battle at the gates, but then the demons go to the West so Michael kills all the demons there. Emma and John meet with the Jade Emperor who kills Emma so she will be raised and John raises her as promised. Everything is quiet until a phoenix comes to warn about the Demon King has attacked again.

I sorta liked this book. Now I’m reading Black Jade by Kylie Chan. It is the last book of the series.

Dark Serpent

I finished reading Dark Serpent by Kylie Chan. This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series. She has written 10 books of the books series. She is writing a new book of the series and it will be out soon. She wrote a dragon book series that I would like to read.

Big Warning: there is some gross parts and one “sad” part.

In this book, Emma, John, Simone, and three others went to Wales to find out about Emma’s heritage. They find out that she is from a serpent people who were made by gods to help destroy the Romans. The problem is that the serpent people accidentally kill John and Emma gets kidnapped by the Demon King of both the West and East. They want to take over the world. George aka Kitty Kwork wants to have Emma’s kids. Before she was kidnapped, Emma discovers she is pregnant.  She “loses” the baby and George takes some of her ovaries again. (I sorta think George lied to Emma saying the baby is dead.) John goes crazy and goes to the West Heaven, but ends up going back home to find the Mountain has been attacked by some poisoned insects. But then the gateways are closed to the Western Heavens. John does find a way and he rescues Emma. The elixir is ready for Emma to take for her to be raised to be immortal like John.

I love this book. Now I’m reading Demon Child by Kylie Chan. It’s the next book in the book series. 

Heaven to Wudang Jorney to Wudang Book 3

I finished reading Heaven to Wudang Journey to Wudang Book 3 by Kylie Chan. This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series. She has written 10 books of the books series. She is writing a new book series and it will be out soon. She also written a dragon book series that I would to read.

In this book, Emma keeps getting feelings and short visions of impending doom. But she and the others don’t know exactly what the doom is. They think there will be hundreds of demons outside of the Academy. They discuss who will help bring John back. Leo tries to volunteer, but they end up picking two generals instead. So one of the generals brings back John. John tells them that there are fake students in the academy who will explode if they know everyone knows. In the end, they lose a lot of students. Then Emma’s nephews go missing. They raided every research building that “Kitty Kwok” was at. Emma thought her nephews were at one building and let her be taken. She was given more demon essence and her memory wiped. But she had been wrong her nephews wasn’t there. The police found out the passport was fake and she almost went to prison until a police officer that used to haunt her saved her. John restored some of her memory, but the Jade Emperor restored her memory. They found out where Kitty’s hideout was. They found Emma’s nephews and Michael’s girlfriend (who was thought dead). They were tortured badly. Simone also gets poisoned and John helps her by slicing off his arm.  Then Emma’s parents and sisters decide to change their name and go into hiding. She won’t be able to see her parents again. Then Simone goes missing. They find her and she was drugged.  Emma gets radiation poisoning. They take Kitty to see the Demon King as promised. They lead her to the jade cage. This is where they find out Kitty was all along the Demon King. (plot twist which I sorta guessed)  Emma almost died and John’s serpent appeared and healed Emma. Then Emma killed John and the demon king let her go. The Jade Emperor thought maybe the Demon King had put something inside her to change her somehow. Emma lets them see if he did. And he did. John got rid of the thing that made her less fearful and has a death wish.  But now the Demon King is torturing John’s serpent.

I loved this book. Now I reading Dark Serpent by Kylie Chan. It is the next book in the martial arts fantasy book series.

Hell to Heaven Journey to Wudang Book 2

I finished reading Hell to Heaven Journey to Wudang Book 2 by Kylie Chan. This book is part of a martial arts fantasy book series. She has written 10 books of the books series. She is writing a new book for the series and it will be out soon. She also has written a dragon book series that I would to read.

In this book, Emma is looking for answers on how to get the demon essence out of her and what she really is. John had told her to go to see Na Wu who lives high up on a mountain. She does and she almost dies. Na Wu gives no help. All she tells Emma is to find out her ancestry. Then she goes to the Three Puries and they give her a solution, but it disappears a minute later. They do give her a white stone which kills demons. She chooses to use it in a fight and the demon king takes away the demon essence so she can use the white stone. But when she uses it, she is kidnapped and given more demon essence. Then a jealous military guard tries to prove to everyone who Emma really is and makes her into a full-blown demon. John tries to save her, but she becomes his slave instead. They make a pact with the demon king to give him Kitty Kwonk who started the whole mess in exchange that he will take away Emma’s demon essence. She almost dies until John’s serpent heals her.

I loved this book. Now I’m reading Heaven to Wudang Journey to Wudang Book 3 by Kylie Chan.

A Door Into Evermoor

I finished reading A Door into Evermoor by Kent Wayne. It is the first book of a new book series called Unbound Realm. He writes crazy ads for his books on his blog called Dirty Sci-Fi Buddha. He also wrote a book series called Echo (which is awesome) and a book called Kor’Thank Barbarian Valley Girl (which was awesome too).

In this book, a guy named Jon wants more in his life. He loves to play video games, but he doesn’t want to have a 9-to-5 life. He thinks about joining the military. But none is there and then a guy appears. His name is Atriya. He tells Jon that he can have more if he signs a contract. On the contract, it says Something Different. Jon signs it and then later he has weird visions of elves, dragons, and knights. Even a guy with runes on a headband. He is ok with the visons until he runs into a park and meets a homeless guy. The homeless guy is actually a wizard of a place called Evermoor. Jon later goes to walk his dog in some woods and finds the door to Evermoor. He meets a thief, a duelist, another guy named Ren, and his dog which has turned into a wolf who can talk and has magic. They think that Jon is the One to help free Evermoor from the white witch. On their journey to open Jon’s mind to the magic of Evermoor, they meet an elf princess. Jon falls for her. Jon and the elf princess get a mission to complete a gun which they do. And then when they return to Evermoor, they learn that Evermoor has changed.

I loved this book. I can’t wait for the next one. Now I’m going to finish Hell to Heaven Journey to Wudang by Kylie Chan.

Seraphina

I finished reading  Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. She also wrote Tess on the Road which I read earlier.

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, a girl named Seraphina has a few secrets. Her mother dies in child birth. Her father finds out her mother was a dragon then.  Seraphina is a half dragon.  Her father is a lawyer who helps bring about a treaty between the humans and dragon. He remarries and has four other kids. Tess is Seraphina’s half sister.  She also has a teacher who teaches her all about dragons. That teacher ends up being her uncle who is also a dragon. She doesn’t know he is her uncle and a dragon until she sees him in dragon form. When she does, she begins to have visions that cause her to blackout. Her uncle teaches her how to manage the visions. She later finds out that the visions are of real people and those people are half dragons like her.  Seraphina’s mother was a musician so  Seraphina is really into music too. So she leaves her father’s house and goes to become the court’s musician assistant. In doing so she gets to know the prince who is engaged to his cousin. She falls in love with the prince and she does end up telling him everything about her being a dragon. He confesses that he loves her too. Also Seraphina meets her grandfather, but her grandfather wants to destroy the treaty. Her uncle fights his father to the death and wins. But now her grandfather’s army wants war.

I loved this book. Now I’m reading Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman. It is the sequel to Seraphina.

Tess on the Road

I finished read Tess on the Road by Rachel Hartman. She has written other books about Tess’ half sister which I do want to read.

Big Warning: there is some sad parts.

In this book, a girl named Tess goes on a road journey. Lol She was supposed to be first to get married since she is the oldest twin. But she “disgraces” her family so her twin sister gets married instead. Tess is very outspoken and is unlike other girls. Her parents decide that she would be better in convent. But she runs away. On the way, she finds a childhood friend that she lost touch with for a few years. This childhood friend is a small dragon. They are on a mission to find the World Serpents that the small dragon told her about. Also on her journey she decides it is best for her to dress a man. She finds work easily and builds up muscle which helps her free a woman from a terrible priest. She also falls in love with a disabled man. Her twin sister wants her home, but she decides to set sail to find the World Serpents instead.

I loved this book. Back to my journey in Narnia, Prince Caspian is next.
