Serpentine

I finished reading Serpentine by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty-sixth book of the Anita Blake book series. It is the latest book in the book series.  There is supposed to be a new book coming out in August.

NOTE: This is the last book I’m going to read of the Anita Blake book series. Yes, I made the mistake of seeing what the next book will be like and the summary does sound good, but what the summary doesn’t tell is why I want to quit reading this book series. I’m tired of the weird multiple sex (yes I can skip the parts which I have done with the previous books) and the emotions of Anita. Sometimes her emotions bring down the book. My character now is Edward/Ted, not Anita which is the main character.

Big Warning: there are two sex scenes, some gross parts, and some violence.

In this book, Anita goes down to Florida for Edward/Ted and Donna’s wedding. One of the bridesmaids goes crazy threatening to tell Donna’s little girl that Edward/Ted was a cheating on Donna. He is not cheating on her. The bridesmaid stabs Donna’s son. Then a woman goes missing and they try to find her. But before they do another woman goes missing too. One of the police officers uses magic to try to get one of Anita’s boyfriends to confess to the crime. Then a body of the first woman is found. It was killed by something not quite human. Anita gets the idea to use her boyfriend as a scent animal to find the other woman which they do. Then two other women go missing. They track them down and find out the police officer who used magic was involved with the kidnapping. They find out that a big huge monster is the one who kill the first girl in order to do a ritual to cure a snake curse.

I did like this book. Next I’m listening to The Bishop’s Pawn by Steve Berry. It is the thirteen book of the Cotton Malone book series.

Kiss the Dead

I finished reading Kiss The Dead by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty-first book of the Anita Blake book series. There are twenty-six books in the book series so far.

Warning: there is some violence and two sex scenes.

In this book, Anita Blake is integrating a vampire who kidnapped a girl. The vampire leads the police into a trap. Two policemen are killed. Anita invokes a warrant for the vampires who killed the policemen. The girl is saved. Supposedly the girl wanted to be a vampire, but refused at the last moment. Plus the vampires didn’t kill the policemen. It was another vampire who did it. Some of vampires get away and Anita scares a vampire into telling where the others are. They do find some of vampires. One vampire uses vampire powers to control one the policemen and Anita saves two lives. Anita finds out who is really behind the killing of the police officers. The vampire claims he is innocent of the killings because he just wanted vampires to be free from any master. But the vampires had other plans and they wanted to kill Anita and Jean-Claude. One was to bomb a club owned by Jean-Claude. But Anita was able to get the wereanimals to attack the bomber and Anita killed the bomber.

I sorta liked this book. Now I’m reading Serpentine by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty-sixth book of the Anita Blake book series.

Wounded (novella)

I finished reading Wounded by Laurell K Hamilton. It is a novella of the Anita Blake book series. It comes between Dead Ice and Crimson Death.

This novella is actually an outtake of the book Dead Ice. In the book Dead Ice, Anita asks her former teacher of raising the dead on a case about zombies. Manny’s daughter Connie is engaged to married.  Connie, her fiance, and her little brother get kidnapped by a scary guy. Connie’s brother gets shot in the stomach. In Wounded, Connie gets married and Anita and her two boyfriends attend the wedding. At the reception, Micah talks to Connie’s brother.  Micah later on tells Anita and Tomas’ other sister that Tomas is hurting mentally and needs help. So Anita and her two boyfriends talk to Tomas about doing the PT he needs and hitting the gym will really help him become a survivor and not a victim.

I did like this novella. Next I’m reading Kiss the Dead by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty-first book of the Anita Blake book series.

Dancing (novella)

Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence.

In this book, Anita is asked to go to a BBQ party at her boss’ house. She takes her two wereleopard  lovers and a friend’s son. The cops’ wives start a fight about Nathaniel. One wife tells another that he had sex with her at bachelorette  party. It wasn’t true. Then the friend’s son gets in a fight with another boy. Later Nathaniel does a ballet show which leads to all the kids dancing and then the adults danced.

She finds out one big bad vampire is behind it. She ends up killing one of her bodyguards who get possessed by this big bad vampire. When it is on the news, Edward comes to help out. (Yay Edward!) Another marshal does a big mistake and more people get killed. Anita and Edward correct the mistake and kill the zombie and rotting vampires with fire.  She learns that the vampire behind the disease is the Lover of Death and she has help in killing him.

In this book, Anita Blake is asked to join a case with Edward/Ted. He is in Ireland on a vampire case. The people in Ireland was surprised about the vampires because they thought there weren’t any there. But one of the vampires that Jean Claude and Anita has in their group came from Ireland and he had said the vampire who made him hid herself very well from the Ireland people. That same vampire was having problems. He was having nightmares. (At first I thought he was causing the vampire attacks from his dreams. But I was wrong.) After he had sex with Anita and Nathanael, they grew in power.  Anita goes to Ireland to find out who is behind the vampire attacks. She gets hurt by one of the vampires and then she gets kidnapped by the head vampire who uses fear as food.  Anita finds out the vampire who was keeping her hostage was the one behind the vampire attacks. She was trying to make a big scene to get Anita to come to Ireland so she could kill Anita and take her power. But Anita and Nathanael get away. Anita ends up using ghosts to kill the vampires and the main vampire.

Big Warning: there is some disturbing parts and gross parts.

In this book, Anita is call on a police job. The job is that someone who raises zombies and puts the souls back into the zombies so someone else can have sex with the zombies. Yes, that is the disturbing part. Anita also raises a zombie who looks really alive which means her power is growing more powerful. Also Anita is engaged to Jean Clade.  Anita does find out who is raising the zombies and selling them as sex slaves.

I sorta liked this book. I didn’t like the disturbing parts though. I’m listening to next Crimson Death by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty fifth book of the Anita Blake book series.

Jason (book)

I finished listening to Jason by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twenty third book of the Anita Blake book series. There are twenty six books in the Anita Blake book series.  This is more of a novella than a novel.

Big Warning: there are some sex scenes.

In this book, Jason brings up a topic to Anita. He is concerned about his girlfriend. He wants rough sex, but his girlfriend doesn’t know how rough he wants it. So he wants Anita to show how rough he wants it. She agrees and they do. Jason’s girlfriend doesn’t want the rough sex. Then Jason’s girlfriend offers to give tips to Anita about having sex with women. So they do and they talk about Anita’s relationships.

I finished listening to Hit List by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twentieth book of the Anita Blake book series. There are twenty six books in the Anita book series.

In this book, Anita Blake is visited again by the Mother of all Darkness. But the Mother of All Darkness is supposed to be dead, but she transferred her power to the Vampire Council before she died. So Anita will have a hard time killing her since she can move from body to body. Anita also is visited by the Lover of All Darkness too.  Anita does have find a way to get enough power that could defeat the Mother of All Darkness.

I didn’t like sex scenes and Anita’s confusion. There was a little, very little part of this book that I liked.  I’m listening to next Hit List by Laurell K Hamilton. It is the twentieth book of the Anita Blake book series.
