Prince Caspian

I finished reading Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis. It is the fourth (second) book in the Narnia book series. Yes there was a movie based on the book. I had seen it and re-watched it.

Warning: there is some violence.

In this book, The children (Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy) are waiting on the train to go to school. They are wondering when they are sent back to Narnia, then suddenly they are no longer waiting in the train station. They are back in Narnia. But it is much different than what they knew. The creatures were in hiding because of a terrible king. The king had took in his nephew who is supposed to be next in line to the throne. The nephew really doesn’t want to be king, but he wants the old stories of Narnia. His tutor tells him the stories. Then the king has a son. The king then wants his nephew killed. The tutor tells him to run and he meets some of the talking creatures of Narnia. Susan’s horn is found and Prince Caspian has blown which brings the children to Narnia. Aslan and the children take down the king and his followers. The children go back home.

There were a few differences between the book and the movie:

  1. The White Witch doesn’t have a hold on the boys in the book. She doesn’t show up in the book. The woman who was going bring her back is killed.
  2. Susan and Prince Caspian don’t fall in love in the book.
  3. Susan and Lucy go off with Aslan (in the movie it is just Lucy). The book tells what they do.

I loved this book. Now I’m going to read The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis. It is the fifth (third) book of the Narnia book series.
