The Magician’s Nephew

I finished reading The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis. This is the first book of the Narnia book series. They are seven books. Yes, I have seen the movies.

Warning: there is talk of violence.

In this book, Polly meets Digory who moved in his uncle’s house. They become friends and they make up games together. One game though lands them into Digory’s uncle’s study. His uncle has been dibbling with magic and he made magic rings that take you supposedly into other worlds. His uncle tricks them into using the rings. They come into a wood which connects all the worlds. Instead of going home, they go into gloomy world. Digory unleashes an evil witch. They accidently bring her into our world which leads to trouble. They decide to send her back home, but they land into a unknown world which is brought to life by a lion. Digory makes a plea to the lion about having a fruit to make his mother better. She is very sick. The lion agrees to do that. He sends them on a quest to get a fruit from a walled garden (Eden). The lion gives Digory the fruit and he gives it to his mother. Before they leave Narnia, the lion tells them to bury the magical rings. They do and when the tree falls, Digory makes the wood into a wardrobe.

I loved this book. Now I’m reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. It is the second book of the book series.
