I watched The Hundred-Foot Journey yesterday. I taped it when it was on The Movie Channel. It is based on a book by Richard C. Morais. (I haven’t read it.) It has Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal, Charlotte Le Bon, Amit Shah, Farzana Dua Elahe, Dillon Mitra, Aria Pandya, and Juhi Chawla.
In this movie, a Indian family moves out of India after there was a fire that caused their restaurant to be burned down and the mother f the family to be killed. They ended up in France. Their van breaks down in a small village. A woman helps them to take their van to be looked at. While going through the village, the father sees an abandoned restaurant. He ends up buying it. There is a French restaurant across the street. The woman that owns that restaurant had ran off the previous owners of the abandoned restaurant. They end up getting into a feud. Then one of the chefs of the French restaurant attempts to burn down the Indian restaurant. The woman who the French restaurant fires that chef and decides on making amends. The son decides to try out for a trial run at the French restaurant. The woman is impressed and hires him. The son becomes a great chef, but comes back to the little village to manage a restaurant with the woman he loves.
I loved this movie. Next week I’m watching Pet.
