Jumanji

My mother had been talking about the new Jumanji movie. She kept saying it sounded good. I wanted to see the old Jumanji movie because I couldn’t remember some parts of it. So Chris and I watched the old one. The old one was made in 1995. It has Robin Williams (miss him), Jonathan Hyde, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Bonnie Hunt, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier, Adam Hann-Byrd, and Laura Bell Bundy.

I know most of you have seen the old one, but here’s a summary anyway. In this movie, a boy named Alan Parrish finds a game named Jumanji hidden in a chest. He plays the game with his best friend Sarah. But Alan gets sucked into the game and Sarah doesn’t finish the game. The game also causes animals to appear. Many years later a woman buys the Parrish house. She has a niece and nephew. They find the game in the attic. They play it and they bring back Alan Parrish. They find Sarah and they finish the game. The game is then buried in the sand on a beach.

I did like this movie.

The Accountant

This Monday I watched The Accountant. I had been wanting to see it for a long time. When HBO was free for a weekend, I taped it. It has Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Tambor, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and J.K. Simmons.

Warning: there is lots of violence and a sweet ending.

In this movie, An accountant named Christian Wolf is hunted by the IRS and other shady people. He has Autism, but the high function kind. He has helped some criminals with their books. He decides to take a less dangerous case of a robotics company. A woman found the mistake in the books. She and Christian get hunted by a security firm. They make out alive because of who is behind the security firm.

I really liked this movie. I really do hope there really is a sequel to the movie. Next week I’m watching The Lego Movie.

Star Wars The Last Jedi

Chris and I did see Star Wars The Last Jedi. It is the latest story in the Star Wars story. It has Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Kelly Marie Tran, and John Boyega.

Warning: there is some violence and one big sad part.

In this movie, Rey tries to get Luke’s help, but he refuses. So instead she tries to get him to train her in the force. He does, but he senses dark in her too. The war rages on. Kylo and Rey try to unite, but it ends badly.

I did like this movie. I hope the next one will tell who Rey’s parents are.

Assassin’s Creed

Last Monday I did watch Assassin’s Creed. It is based on the video game. I never played the game. The movie has Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Brendan Gleeson, and Ariane Labed in it.

Warning: there is lots of violence.

In this movie, a man named Cal Lynch was in prison. A group of people faked his death in order to do an experiment on him. That group of people is part of the Templar Knights. Cal Lynch has the same DNA as a man named Aguilar de Nerha. Aguliar was part of another secret society who wanted to stop the Templar Knights getting the apple that caused sin in the world. The new Templar Knights used Cal to find the apple.

I did like this movie. This week I watched The Accountant which I will post about tomorrow.

Stealing Faces

I finished reading Stealing Faces by Michael Prescott. It was one of my mother’s books that she left lying around.

Warning: there are some gruesome parts and some violence.

Stealing Faces is about a man who steals faces literally. His name is John Cray. He’s a doctor by day and night he “hunts” women and takes out off their faces. One of his patients escaped the hospital. She sorta knew about the murders. She had shot her husband. Her husband knew Dr. Cray. Her name is Kaylie. She was the one hope to stop Cray from getting away with the murders.

Even though it was a very sick book, I actually I liked it.  Now I’m going to finish reading Reliquary by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I had started it a long time ago, but I haven’t finished reading it.

You can get this book on Amazon.com, and Kobo.com.

Dark Tide

I finished reading Dark Tide by William P Kennedy.  I think it was one of the books a woman gave me and my mother tried to read it because a mirror got stuck to the book. I found it on Open Library and I converted it to my Kindle.

Warning: there is some violence.

Before I begin, I want to say the book is a little slow at first. This book shows you that money really the root of all evil.  Money caused them to lose control.

This book is about two couples who went sailing in the Caribbean. The two couples are Bill and Jeanne Chester (I didn’t like her) and Howard (I really didn’t like him) and Marilyn Hunter. Howard had picked a charter sailing boat that they would use for a week.  Also going to the Caribbean was a young woman named Cindy. Cindy was a courier for a wealthy man. She was carrying camera cases. The cases were a decoy. Filled in them were bonds that she is supposed to trade for diamonds. But Cindy’s meeting went deadly and she ran to the same boat as the couples were on. Cindy knew the captain of the charter boat. The couples came prisoners until they found out about the money. Then Howard lost it and “accidentally” killed the captain. He was going to kill Cindy too,  but Bill threw the money overboard.

I sorta liked this book. It did have a good ending. Now I’m reading Stealing Faces by Michael Prescott.

You can get this book at Amazon.com.

My Christmas

Happy New Year!!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. Chris did come down and stayed until Dec. 29th. I stayed up late with him which caused me to be sleepy most of the day and Lily also slept on my lap. And one of my presents from my best friend helped me to be sleepy for awhile.

Speaking of presents, I got an Amazon gift card from my cousin. A Kohls card from my great-aunt. A gift card from my mother. My mother also gave me a soft and warm blanket, soft pjs, and cute slippers. She got Lily a blanket too. My best friend gave a cute black cat mug, lotion, and a Himalayan salt lamp. Chris gave me a pink Sailor Moon jacket (he got the wrong size and we exchanged it), and a personal alarm.

The hoodie did fit Chris, but he left it here. I’m probably going to send it to him. My best friend did like the calendar and jewelry I gave her.
